Despite being an obviously funny meme, this brings up a great point.
These days it's fashionable to bash the nation state as a concept, an organizing principle, a source of identity, etc...
So my question to these people is: if not the nation state, then what? Show me a workable alternative. What would they prefer? Empire? Regional agreements? Communiques and proclamations? Technocracy? What exactly is their alternative plan?
The reality is that they have one. Nation states, as they are run today, have horrible flaws and I'll be the first to point that out. But it's the least worst solution we have. And thus far, I have not seen anyone present any viable alternative.
So with that, screw globalist rule or any other incarnation of it, and long live the nation state!
