General Pulaski volunteered his services to General Washington during the Revolutionary War.
"I came here, where freedom is being defended, to serve it, and to live or die for it."
Polish forces jumped into a blood bath near the Arnhem Bridgehead (and subsequently got shot to shit and back) while supporting the 1st Airborne during the final battles of Market Garden in WWII. Landing in the crossfire of what was left of the Bristish Parachute Div and the 10th SS and Panzer Div).
It's a hell of bit of history and worth reading- Polish forces evacuated nearly 3000 wounded over the river, under the cover of darkness, completely surrounded, in the rain, with no logistical support, all without paddles (literally).
Napoleon himself declared that his 800 Polish troops were worth 8000 regulars.
Just wanna throw this out there-

God Bless Poland, a dear friend to all Americans.
