Chloroquine, an anti-malarial drug, and HIV-suppressing combination lopinavir/ritonavir (Kaletra)

This worked in Korea, too.

Both have already been sold out in the US. So, assuming it works, we have a supply problem.

There are no problems, only solutions. Let’s have Amazon Prime overnight deliver the equivalent of all the toilet paper sold in the last week. That should be a good start.

Do you think this might have been a live 'test run' to see how effecive the virus was and it completely got out of hand? China is no better than N Korea on respect for life.

They would readily sacrifice their subjects for plausible deniability

I would like some information on just the human immune system. How well has that done on it's own against the virus?

Are these medications necessary?

For ICU level patients, definitely. A younger healthy person is probably able to manage symptoms at home though.

Koala blood.

It worries me these drugs are working. Both malaria and HIV are long lasting reoccurring infections. There have been a few people that have recovered from this virus but are still testing positive. I am wondering if the body is unable to clear the virus. If this is true then that is a huge issue.

There's discussion that this virus (or a variant of it) can hide from the immune system in the kidneys or testis. It's also been discussed that it can hide in spinal fluid.

throw all the drugs out there at them. I saved some antibiotics from when I broke my thumb, my girlfriend had a uti and forgot her meds and I looked it up and mine said they did the same thing and she was better. so there isn't 1 drug for 1 thing. each one does multiple things. I was sick and took it and felt better and was I not supposed to?

Azithromycin is antibacterial, not antiviral.

The sad thing is you know there's idiot's out there who are taking old antibiotics and thinking they're safe from the virus.

Heck, I am eating an orange a day and wrapping myself in bubble wrap thinking I am safe.

If moldylocks took a bath... would she be safe?

Moldylocks would be safe, but the bathwater would have a problem

Hey thanks for the info. I didn't add much context to my original comment...I know there isn't a lot people can do to treat a virus. I really meant that I think a lot of people will be treating symptoms and not much else.

If only it was that easy.
