Yes, but people 60 and above are people too. Those dying are often frail from other, already existing illnesses. But their socialized medicine 'decides' who is worthy to treat and who isn't. And the younger win that bet, because, after all - the old folks already spent most of their lives paying in to the system and now they need it, and it costs for them to need it. But the young folks have decades to pay in to it still. It's their money that matters, not what the old folks have already paid.

I get what you're saying and I agree, but if you look at these countries they were already doing this before Big Scary Megavirus came around. In a country with NHS-style healthcare, if a 91 year old lifelong smoker with COPD and emphysema gets diagnosed with lung cancer, they just let that dude die, regardless of whatever health panic is sweeping the world.

Medicare also does this in the US. My wife is a neurosurgical nurse practitioner, and they frequently get denials on elderly patients with complicating diagnoses because it's just not in Medicare's interest to pay that bill.

Never trust the government with your money; they aren't going to give it back when you need it.

And they have been Chinese nationals. Just FYI.

I’ve been curious about this, is that true? I’m sure there’s no info about that anywhere online

It's true. In recent years, Italian producers of leather goods have sold out to Chinese buyers and then 100,000 Chinese moved to Italy to work in those factories. There was even an SJW-esque promotion to "Hug a Chinese person." The mayor of Florence did a commercial and hugged an uncomfortable looking Chinese man. A pretty young Chinese woman held up a sign in a busy piazza that read, "I am not a flu. I am a Chinese. Please hug me."

These videos are on line.

From what I’ve read, the north Italian area is all textile factories full of Chinese people from wuhan.

I like GP, but for them to say it's 'stunning' that most people who are dying from coronavirus a re very old is just stupid.

Most illnesses kill old people in far greater numbers than young, healthy people, and we've known for quite some time that this disease is particularly dangerous for the elderly, and especially those with underlying health conditions.

This is why extreme precautions need to be taken to protect those vulnerable populations.

And, I would bet that those in the 60's who died had multiple comorbidities.

This isn't a generational thing, and no one is saying "kill all boomers".

The point being that a lot of people are throwing around a 10% fatality number and believing that it applies to the general pop. If you accept that premise you're probably at home expecting tens of millions to die.

It's not wishing death on older people, or being selfish, to point out the obvious bullshittery of some of the stats being thrown out there to get the rubes all riled up.

It's actually not all that difficult to go on Twitter and find all of the posts where people are saying "kill all boomers" or some variation of it. Hell, the term "Boomer Remover" was actually trending a couple of days ago, because so many people were hoping that this disease would "kill all boomers".

I agree with the rest of what you wrote, but trying to downplay the rabid glee that leftists are displaying at the thought that the biggest demographic that votes against them might be wiped out isn't the best of moves.
