It is so pathetic they come over here to shill about the flu. You aren't going to gaslight the donald so fuck off.

I'm deporting anyone who has <5 posts that are all unsubstantiated virus fear mongering.

45
alfredbester 45 points ago +61 / -16

This is a flu post, partner. Nobody makes you read them. Banning shit is for weaklings who can't argue their positions. Talking about something isn't necessarily fear mongering, but I guess we're lucky to have you to make that decision for all the rest of us.

15
publ1us 15 points ago +23 / -8

This attack makes absolutely no sense. I'm merely reporting to the admins when a post egregiously is trying to astroturf this place into what the rest of the internet has become. If you can't see that a new poster with 5 posts all only talking about "muh Italy" is unsubstantiated fear mongering, then you're beyond help.

26
alfredbester 26 points ago +26 / -0

Maybe I was a bit harsh. I get riled up about censorship.

14
publ1us 14 points ago +14 / -0

I appreciate that, and I definitely get riled up about censorship, too. My patience for astroturfing leftards who want to play legalese with our rules, however, has run out a while ago. lol

"New poster"

This entire board is a few months old, if that.

Practically everyone is a "new poster".

I don't see the totalitarian rules you want to enforce posted anywhere.

Not only that, you don't immediately convey the intelligence required to make such a call.

3
publ1us 3 points ago +6 / -3

My definition of "new poster" here is someone who has five posts, literally all this morning, all saying just about the exact same thing. My assertion is in line with how T_D worked on just about a daily basis, so I can only assume you must be new here and were never there. The morning shill deportation is practically a tradition. Oh and the rules? They're on the sidebar!

Your insult attempt is weak and reeks of a lack of reading comprehension, or someone who last general cognition to understand context.

3
streakybacon 3 points ago +6 / -3

Everyone here is a new poster, including you. More than half your posts are about Coronavirus. The rest intermingled with praising "freedom" (but only the freedom you approve of) and calling your own family douchbag shills.

Do you not expect people to post on a current topic? You expect people not to talk about a Pandemic?

Where are the rules in the sidebar saying nobody can discuss the Wuhan coronavirus?

No-one signed up to come over here to be ruled by some emotional twat who's scared of a discussion. I heard r/pol is looking for moderators, you should apply.

We dont need concern trolls who are too stupid to utilize current data and believe everything the liberal media says. The fact you pussies are following us over here and bouncing on our dicks proves you are nothing more than pussies who needed us, and not the reverse.

DANG IT MODS ARE TOO FAST. I'm not seeing the shills. What are their talking points today? Can anyone sum it up so if I see one I can blast em

6
DeploraBen 6 points ago +7 / -1

This post did a great job at rooting out the Chicken Littles. There were 2 or 3 that I saw with accounts less than an hour old, with a dozen or more comments about how we're all gonna die. It doesn't seem to occur to them that coming here, of all places, and saying "the media is right" is going to fly like a lead balloon.

2

ahhhhh now i see how it all went down, tanks pede. nuts i miss all the fun

He was upset I wasn’t RESPECTFULLY disagreeing when I called Tim Pool a jackass

2
rooftoptendie 2 points ago +3 / -1

no, lad, i'm asking what are their daily FLU talking points. All shills wail about free speech on their way out the door, that's nothing new.

4
publ1us 4 points ago +4 / -0

It was basically the usual "we don't know what we don't know and we're the next Italy" stuff.. No shit, right? They're complaining they can't yell "FIRE!" in a crowded theater. What was extra baffling is the other TD people attacking me for thinking we shouldn't put up with that.

Somehow the precautions we're already taking, constant hand washing until my knuckles are bleeding from being so dry, and avoiding contact with everyone for 2+ weeks isn't enough for some people. They think we all have to collectively panic about it to get it to go away or something.

Good points, but to be fair, we should still be pro free speech. You don't want to become what you oppose. See - if somebody writes something silly or something you disagree with - debate him, insult him, troll him - but outright censorship is bad.

See it this way - assume you fight ideas. The only way to propagate your ideas and to defeat others is to talk. If you censor each other over words and bad ideas, people won't change their mind, and see you as intellectually intolerant - and thus have a reason to oppose Trump and his supporters because "look at them." We want us to look good - and in my opinion we do a pretty fine job at that.

Now the complication is this: Wanting to look good may goes contrary to the idea of free speech. Having fun and joking may yield offensive things and hurt weak people's feelings, but trying to moderate everything meticulously will kill the forum, make it sterile, less popular and boring. But how about this: The sheer fact that we have a high magnitude of free speech is the very thing that makes us appealing.

And if it means some (not too many, gotta maintain a concept of proper border control) leftists spew their crap and get verbally nuked - so be it.

2
deleted 2 points ago +3 / -1
2
PurestEvil 2 points ago +3 / -1

True. Outright trolling is totally fine to be deported. If they come here to provoke and troll us, fire them to hell and beyond. But in this case the guy, whose message is now deleted, had a fair point in regards to free speech - even if slightly provocative.

For example if messages get downvoted into oblivion - make them hidden but expandable instead of being deleted. If they get downvoted even beyond another threshold, delete them. That would provide some level of user self-moderation, and give censorship a gradient.

It's been extremely successful at hiding real news for more than a week.

Shareblue board room is probably laughing it up and high fiving that even thedonald is nothing but coronavirus memes.

5
Thrasymachus 5 points ago +6 / -1

I mean, it's the biggest major incident in a LONG time. It's natural that people want to talk--and here, meme, which is our post-postmodern way of philosophizing--about it. I don't think it's that weird.

Are nefarious, bad-actor globalist types and DNC regulars secretly hoping they can turn it to their political advantage? Yea. But by the same token, name me something in recent memory that doesn't fit that bill.

In the end, with regard to our little digital kingdom, it's actually business-as-usual: deport the obvious Concerners, but don't lash out at people who just want to engage with this because you wish it weren't happening.

4
Isolated_Patriot 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm not really worried about, shocked about it, or even upset about it. I would just like to see a bit less on the front page, since every person on this board knows the enemy of the people will never let a crisis go to waste.

I just think more of us, and by extension, more posts making it to the front page, should be asking what else is going on in the world.

2
MuadDon 2 points ago +3 / -1

People also want to see it here because this is the first major incident post-media awakening for many. It feels like you can't trust ANY org, so ofc pedes wanna see what their compatriots think and have analyzed on .win.

3
JediMasterPepe 3 points ago +5 / -2

Trying to spread hysteria and memeing about the hysteria of the MSM brainwashed normies are not the same thing though.

5
Isolated_Patriot 5 points ago +5 / -0

Agreed. It should be posts marveling over the USA's astonishingly LOW rates which are so low its not worth much of a story. Other than how low they are.

15
kirovri 15 points ago +16 / -1

A part of me wants to believe that people are overreacting. Another part of me thinks about stories from Italy that are saying their health care system is overloaded because of this virus, that they are having trouble treating people, and how the whole country is on lockdown, making me think it's way more serious than any other disease I've seen in my lifetime.

I just know one thing, either it is serious or it isn't - regardless of where you live. If it is serious, then we better take it serious globally otherwise more countries are going to look like Italy very quickly.

Edit: Oh and I know there are definitely leftist assholes who see this virus an opportunity to prevent Trump's re-election, who actively want the economy to crash so they can blame it on Trump. But that doesn't tell us anything about how serious this virus is, for that it's probably best to look at other countries...

7
DisgustedByMisleadia 7 points ago +7 / -0

Italy is in bad shape because they ignored the problem until it got out of control.

Trump is trying to avoid that fate.

6

Italy is in bad shape because their people are filthy and unfit

4
deleted 4 points ago +5 / -1
4
DisgustedByMisleadia 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's part of it. But, they are also seeing normally healthy people suddenly becoming critically ill.

Some of those may be a reprise of what happened with the "Spanish Flu" in 1918: most of the fatalities in the US were age 20-40. Researchers believe it may have been caused by what is now called a "cykotine storm": where a normal immune system overreacts and drowns the victim with their own fluids in their lungs.

Children hadn't fully developed their immune systems, and older people either had weakened immune systems or latent immunity from something similar that pre-dated the young adults.

4
PlanetoftheFakes 4 points ago +5 / -1

The reason the spanish flu killed younger people is because it had a weaker run earlier in the season and older weaker people contracted it, survived, and built a natural immunity to the stronger coming virus. But the main reason it was so bad was WWI had everyone starving and trench warfare is a hyper breeding ground for the virus, then all the soldiers come home and spread it to their respective countries.

1
DisgustedByMisleadia 1 point ago +2 / -1

Yes, it was the second wave that was contrary to most flu epidemics. The current theory is that people in the trenches with a mild case stayed put, while the severe cases were sent to field hospitals, where it was spread further.

But, I was referring to why normally healthy people were vulnerable. The "cytokine storm" theory was developed relatively recently, after researchers transfected animals with the virus from frozen victims, and they suffered rapid progressive respiratory failure.

I can't find the article now, but yesterday I read one that reported some of the younger patients in Italy fit this model.

Italy is in bad shape because they ignored the problem until it got out of control.

https://www.zerohedge.com/political/mayor-florence-encouraged-italians-hug-chinese-pandemic-hit

Because of that, and socialized medicine.

Don't be like Italy.

4
DisgustedByMisleadia 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yes, that's another reason. Due to socialized medicine limiting investment in infrastructure, Italy has less critical care beds per 1M population than most Western countries.

As a result, they are having to decide who gets life-saving critical care, and who is left to die:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/03/14/elderly-left-isolated-abandoned-italy-death-rate-soars/

This is what the Trump administration (and state governments) are trying to prevent. We have more critical care beds, but on average about 2/3rd of them are already occupied by people with other serious illness or injury. And those other serious illnesses and injury will continue to happen, and will compete with this virus.

2
trumpORbust 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep -- Italy welcome the dirty into their country and rolled around with them like they were groomed for it --- same with Germany and other high import zones, those numbers are under reported and no capacity to deal with this

1
AlphaNathan 1 point ago +2 / -1

wtf is this satire?

3
ChickNorris 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think it has more to do with not having enough qualified medical personnel to handle the really bad cases and they have a large elderly population. They are also a lot of people packed into a small country, relative to the size of the US.

Something I think a lot of people don't realize is that the really good doctors, the specialists that are great. They don't stay in countries with socialized medicine. They come to the US to work. The doctor that put in my PED was from Sweden. He's the Director of Interventional Radiology and a Professor at a prestigious uni in my state. He didn't stay in Sweden. He's a great doctor and he's here, saving lives in the US, not in Sweden.

1
DisgustedByMisleadia 1 point ago +2 / -1

Staff shortages are a big part, but certain equipment is in short supply.

Italy has reported that 10% of their hospital admissions that tested positive for COVID-19 have required mechanical ventilators, and they don't have enough.

The US reportedly has about 160,000. The UK is so worried they won't have enough, they are asking manufacturers to retool production lines to produce them.

1
kirovri 1 point ago +1 / -0

Italy is in bad shape because they ignored the problem until it got out of control.

Did they ignore it or did they just not do enough? Is the USA doing enough? I honestly don't know.

1
DisgustedByMisleadia 1 point ago +1 / -0

I think it was a combination of both. Here's an interesting video from Italians -- a message to themselves, from 10 days in the "future":

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nMY0-4p9P-M

7
Juicebusters 7 points ago +7 / -0

Yes but Italy is the most extreme worst case scenario (outside of Wuhan) so it wouldn't be helpful to use that as the expectation.

The other thing is, for no good reason, way way too many people mistakenly believe Italy somehow started ahead of everyone else. They did not. The USA was 'seeded' the same time as Italy as were many others.

The USA is 'where Italy is' today. Italy isn't a glimpse into the future. It's running concurrently with most others and the USA.

One might say Japan and South Korea are ahead of others by maybe a week or two.

And it's not that serious unless you're old, frail, have a disease. It's very mild on children and the average adult (no preexisting lung illness) will just have a routine flu. Which does suck.

I'm a 'Suspected Case' here in Mainland China for what it's worth. They think I got it from a 5 year old little girl who did not actually get that sick herself but waiting to hear back from her father who had indeed been in Wuhan city a day before I was hanging around with him.

mind you, we don't know for sure

1
kirovri 1 point ago +1 / -0

And it's not that serious unless you're old, frail, have a disease.

Honestly that doesn't make it much better. Sure, if you're young and healthy it's less scary. But what about the people who are not? They shouldn't die either.
You might not be at risk yourself, what about your parents for example? Maybe you only get mild symptoms yourself but your parents die or something like that...

1
Juicebusters 1 point ago +1 / -0

Right that will be horrifying if all our parents die in disease and suffering however this is speaking to people who are young, healthy, no other serious diseases:

You aren't getting 'AIDS' and you are not getting a 'Zombie Infection' but rather what for most is a typical Flu. Which sucks but you had the flu before, it sucked, you laid in bed and watched TV then got through it then by the next Monday you went to work.

People, i swear, they think Corona just fucks people over and then great.. they are diseased and disabled for LIFE. Like it turns them into werewolves or I don't know what they think.

Has nobody ever had the flu before? What about a nasty cold? Nobody seems to know what those are like anymore?

2
kirovri 2 points ago +2 / -0

Has nobody ever had the flu before?

I haven't, but I'm more worried about my parents and grandparents anyways.

1
Juicebusters 1 point ago +1 / -0

If your parents have some sort of medical problems, especially respiratory problems and the grandparents are at that 80+ range then yes you have to be worried about them every single year, last year, this year, next year.

The flu sucks, nobody likes some sort of '7 day 'hangover', nobody likes barfing, nobody likes feeling nauseous and dizzy but its also life. Then your body figures it out and beats it. Then you are immune for life.

Corona Virus isn't 'AIDS'. It's not even considered an especially nasty flu and for younger people it even varies from moderate to a mild flu. Plenty of people don't even take time off work or activities and just power through it but do all their normal things in a day.

5
MeSewCorny 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yeah. They did it to virtue signal how calling it the Wuhan Virus was racist, so they promoted everyone to hug a Chinese person.

What do you expect from a pussy liberal country that allowed themselves to become socialist with universal healthcare. If we ever were forced to do universal healthcare I'd hope the liberals who pushed it here caught it too. Everyone else has to suffer due to their low IQ and stupidity. It should be them who suffers for it.

3
Block_Helen 3 points ago +3 / -0

Would it surprise you that smallish regional hospitals in Italy are overloaded? Especially given that this disease disproportionately hits the old, and Italy has the second-oldest population of any country in the world?

Italy also has 300K guest workers from China, many of whom went home for the holidays and returned. Italy also has a lot of Chinese tourism.

We are not Italy.

3
Independenceforever 3 points ago +6 / -3

The destroying angel passes over those with blood on their door (Exodus), those inside Jerusalem's walls (Isaiah), those who mourn for the evil done in the nation with a mark on their hand from Gabriel (Ezekiel), those who submit to the king of Babylon and the word of the prophet (Jeremiah), and for those who have a testimony of God's anointed one (Revelation).

The Bible and history (various plagues, ancient and modern, Bubonic, spanish flu, smallpox/chickenpox) show where those who do survive will be richer and bring out eventual renaissance. It happens in every age of history.

Dangerous panicky idiots deserve to die by Darwinism theory. God just wants to warn and save everybody who will get on an ark, paint blood on their door, or repent to Jesus (symbolically listen to what God says). Yet God will destroy the sinner for his own sake. Like all we lost to drug addiction. There is death when you flirt with danger.

The Law of Moses demands cleanliness and quarantine of sicknesses. Maybe we need to spiritually quarantine ourselves against the over sexualized and violent media and music.

Maybe against leftists. I am so glad I am not getting spiritually infected at reddit.

3
ChickNorris 3 points ago +3 / -0

Maybe we need to spiritually quarantine ourselves against the over sexualized and violent media and music.

Spiritual warfare. We've been dealing with it for decades now. I think the reckoning is coming in the next decade or so.

4
Block_Helen 4 points ago +4 / -0

Any time you point this out you get told "well for now!! but just you wait!!!"

It's almost like they can't wait for the numbers to go up to prove themselves correct.

5
Juicebusters 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yes i have a bunch of people on twitter who keep saying exactly that and they seem to know something nobody else knows.

Consider this though: Outside of Wuhan area, lets say outside Hubei Province China: The next worst was 'Henan' which was a mere 22 deaths.

But then Italy blew up in a worst-case-scenario and now they keep tweeting at me "SEE! Italy! Now do you believe!"

They don't say "Look at Canada! See how.. oh okay, so just 1". 30 Canadians will die from the regular seasonal flu in the same time period.

Honestly people here in China weren't half as hysterical as my American friends and family on Twitter who are losing their minds.

3
Shivore 3 points ago +3 / -0

We don't know the rates.

I love the_donald, but lately people seem to be self-contradicting. Simultaneously saying widespread testing is pointless, and also acting as if we know the results of widespread testing.

You can say testing is pointless and we are doing enough, but that requires accepting that not knowing how widespread it is is acceptable. That's a legitimate opinion.

You can also say we need to know the spread of the virus, but in that case you have to agree US hasn't done enough testing to have that. Also a legitimate opinion.

Neither opinion is wrong. However your post, acting as if we DO know the spread, is wrong.

By the way, my opinion? Closer to the first. Knowing the spread would be nice, but if that takes resources from more important things then no big deal. I trust the Trump administration to make the right call. Trump seems happy with the current rate of testing, so I accept that.

1
Juicebusters 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm not sure where to find the numbers but the experts usually have some sort of 'formula/guess' and so they can usually get a pretty good idea of how many people probably have it.

As far as I can ever recall they are usually about right though I think they overestimated some like MERS and maybe SARS too but the point is that they have some good idea.

Nobody is saying we DO KNOW like objectively as if we have GPS on Corona 'Hosts' bodies but yes there is 'know' as in they have very good reasons, tried and tested, to know something that is probably about correct in any meaningful ways.

No thanks to the MSM, a friend of mine on Facebook is posting a new breaking news article every two hours with the comment "Now I'm not saying it's time to panic, BUT EVERYONE SHOULD BE TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY!!!!!!"

They're now the unofficial nanny of their friends network.

And styxhexenhammer

3
ShartMaster 3 points ago +3 / -0

Even Styx has been kind of fatalistic about it recently. He's basically saying that, yes, the Wu Tang Flu is more dangerous than the average seasonal flu, but, for the most part, if you do some mild prepping and use common sanitary practices, you should be fine.

I personally think that some of the decisions made by our representatives are reasonable; such as, keeping kids out of school for a few weeks, encouraging work from home if possible, and mobile testing labs. But, when lawmakers start imposing curfews, banning large gatherings, refusing to issue new gun permits, and otherwise restricting constitutional freedoms, they are setting a VERY dangerous precident.

Those State Officials who are limiting their constituents' rights, are also setting a dangerous precident for the future. Even if you believe that this whole situation is bullshit, the actions taken by Federal, State, and Local Governments need to be monitored and challenged.

Bingo

9
JamesSunderland 9 points ago +9 / -0

You can take it seriously while still staying calm. I have already got used to the possibility of a local mass quarantine 2 months ago and prepared supplies. And warned those I knew it could happen and probably would at the rate it was going. I can do little more so panic is pointless. Panickers are just those who are currently struggling to accept the idea of world-changing pandemic. This too will pass.

Socialism won. They are all waiting for their doctor to decide if they will be executed for low social score and organ harvesting.

And they are nanny state serfs who don't care so long as the other crabs get equally and democratically pulled back into the bucket with them.

We will never have any way to know of the burned corpses in china were even infected! China just culled population to recover their depression soooner.

12
r3dditblowz 12 points ago +13 / -1

Making Trump fail is the whole point. Unfortunately for them, he’s gonna guide us through it with aplomb and ride the success into the election

13
PlanetoftheFakes 13 points ago +13 / -0

This "pandemic" will be completely over by mid June, just like every sars style virus that came before it. Stocks will got back into a bull market and Trump will claim victory over both the stock crash and corona. The liberal master plan will backfire.

1

This "pandemic" will be completely over by mid June, just like every sars style virus that came before it.

Which is when they start hoping for a "second wave"

8
DisgustedByMisleadia 8 points ago +8 / -0

I think closing bars and restaurants was an overreach, and I've been advocating for people to take this virus seriously all week.

Unfortunately, it was inevitable after so many people ignored the guidance to voluntarily avoid large crowds of people. DeWine reportedly did this because bars were packed over the weekend for St. Patrick's Day.

As usual, the bureaucratic response to a few irresponsible people is to penalize EVERYONE.

3
Thrasymachus 3 points ago +4 / -1

That sounds like a eat-and-have cake situation. You want people to take this seriously, but they aren't. So the bars are closed, but that was an overreach. Huh?

1
DisgustedByMisleadia 1 point ago +4 / -3

Bars and restaurants can remain open if people follow the guidance for "social distancing". It's not difficult.

6
kleindropper 6 points ago +9 / -3

No, I disagree 100%. The more we shut down now means the faster it goes away and we get back to business. Korea wiped it out in 2 weeks doing this. The economy will get more and more f**ked if we just let it run roughshod over months and months. Trump is serious about this, why aren't you?

2
Whatyougotson 2 points ago +2 / -0

I do not believe korea wiped it out in 2 weeks. Or at the very least is the last they heard of it. But i could be wrong. You are right about the longer it goes on, the worse it is. Tough spot to be in but i have faith in trump and will do what he recommends.

4
kleindropper 4 points ago +4 / -0

Well technically it was a total of 4 weeks since first discovering but only 2 weeks from the height; their max daily cases was on 3/3. This site is terrific for data gathering:

the fearmongering is bad an scary but at the end of the day:

there is no food in my US city. online good orders i had have been cancelled this morning. the stock market is closed. air travel from most non-us places is banned. domestical flights are slowly being cancelled. most places are actually closed. people are accepting the government take over of various thing, nyc mayor just said this morning he plans to take over hospitals and medication, unopposed.

also since theres no food right now, time to use my prep food. didn't think this would happen.

7

there is very little food. itll fill back in a day or two im sure but today and yesterday were pretty shit. a colleague went to the office and picked leftovers from the office fridge. a very fat girl was crying on the street because she had no food, telling someone on the phone how she cannot handle this.

interesting days.

Traveled from Utah to Vegas to Cali yesterday.

Nobody so much as coughing or sneezing ANYWHERE.

The people out are mostly good humor and so ready and hungry for a voice of encouragement and faith in God to make the destroying angel PASS OVER at the time of passover.

The rest look like they would vote to kill me and anybody instantly who doesn't live their vaccine cult.

Vaccine theory is that you STILL GET THE DISEASE. Just a "lesser" strain of it deadened with formaldehyde embalming fluid which you also get injected with (and whatever else Merck Glaxo can hide). Most have been injected with deadly diseases since birth. Stick em with formaldehyde placebos and I bet the "confirmed" cases go down even during allergy hypochondriac season.

(Are tests even reliable?)

They wanted a green new deal. This crisis is doing everything socialism and the green new deal planned to do.

Cull people. Overwhelm healthcare. Destroy sovereignty thru "international cooperation" during artificial crisis and government. Destroy basic culture (of touch and social life!!)

Well God gave us that, all in a few weeks suddenly, didn't he?

Repent now leftists. We are being ironically punished.

We blew through the 50% point on Dow since Nov 2016 today - about 22.5k.

16k is testing the next low long term low, double bottom when Trump won the election and would erase all his gains. Seems like a long way to go from here to get there, but I have no doubt the deep state is gunning for that psychological number.

I’m gonna say 18k. That’s the last base before the market really took off. I also think we need 2-3 months of settling before any direction change.

Europe is currently at 600+ daily deaths with sustained 15-20% daily growth. At what point will you take it seriously?

5
Block_Helen 5 points ago +5 / -0

Source?

Europe's population: 741 million

Just for a little perspective while we're waiting.

1
kleindropper 1 point ago +1 / -0

This site is great for tracking: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

They reset their death count at 0:00 GMT

2
Block_Helen 2 points ago +2 / -0

So you saw +600 deaths in Europe in the last 24 hours?

1
kleindropper 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes that is what I counted up for yesterday; mainly big spikes by Italy and Spain. Surprisingly Norway and Switzerland already have very high infection rates per capita but their deaths are very low.

1
Block_Helen 1 point ago +1 / -0

That doesn't surprise me at all. Outbreaks will be affected by several factors which vary situation to situation and locale to locale. That's why the US outbreak likely won't look like Italy's or Iran's or South Korea's or China's.

0
kleindropper 0 points ago +1 / -1

I'm tracking Italy to see if they can get to a topping out point; they are definitely a worst case scenario so it will be good to see them get on top of it. Their death rate is absolutely horrific (7-8% of cases) compared to other places (Korea is less than 1%) I definitely expect the US rate to get under 1% as well as we ramp up the testing.

This is where I'm torn. Earlier this week I was offering an O/U bet of US total deaths of 100 (I had no takers of course.) I think we'll definitely exceed that but by the same token, I think we will remain very low in deaths in large part because of the drastic actions being taken.

3
Block_Helen 3 points ago +3 / -0

I heard that Lombardy region had no new cases today, not sure that is true. I expect Italy to peak soon.

Edit: sorry, I had that wrong. 300 fewer new cases today.
