You can take it seriously while still staying calm. I have already got used to the possibility of a local mass quarantine 2 months ago and prepared supplies. And warned those I knew it could happen and probably would at the rate it was going. I can do little more so panic is pointless. Panickers are just those who are currently struggling to accept the idea of world-changing pandemic. This too will pass.
