Honestly, I think this is just Trump trying to give peace of mind to the masses who actually buy into the idea that the Wuhan Coronavirus is the second coming of the Black Plague.

Doesn't make the overreaction to everything any less frustrating.

It's not an overreaction. When will you understand this? Just because the media is hijacking this crisis to try and attack Trump, does not make the threat any less real. People in this sub have been so used to the media lying about everything, that they are unwilling to believe this could be as bad as it quite clearly is.

I would URGE you to read through this guy's Tweets: https://twitter.com/BioBreakout

He's a NJ/NYC physician who is now handling COVID patients. Seems to be a Trump supporter, too. Anyways, go back and start going through his Tweets from around Feb 29 up till now. He goes from being as dismissive and disbelieving as everyone here... to now being freaked out by the whole thing and realizing he was wrong, now that he's seen firsthand what we're dealing with. I really, really hope that people here start to wake up and do what's necessary to save more lives and prevent this from overwhelming our system.

The amount of people on thedonald who aren't taking cues from The Donald on this is retarded.

Yep. This is a serious issue of public safety, and yet people here have their heads in the sand. These actions are necessary if we expect to slow the spread so that our healthcare system can keep up. People are getting sick at rapid rates (bc this thing is super contagious), getting put in the ICU and staying there for 2-3 weeks to recover, thus making that ICU bed/ventilator no longer available for anyone else. The cases are stacking up fast and hospitals only have so many ICU beds before they are overwhelmed.

We need to slow this thing down so if so many people are going to catch it, the hospitals at least have enough free beds so that we don't end up having to decide who gets to live and who dies, like they are over in Italy...

I've been reading pretty much non-stop about this topic the last week or two; people here desperately need to wake up and start doing some research and looking at the numbers. We can't risk being overconfident and ending up with countless deaths. Because it won't just be the COVID people dying due to no room in hospital; people with strokes, heart attacks, etc. will needlessly die. The system is not made to handle such a large, quick influx of serious-condition new patients. If we can't slow it down so that the numbers of people needing to go to the hospital all at once are smaller, we're in major trouble.

he isn’t asking the whole country to self-isolate for 15 days for everyone’s peace of mind, he is doing it because this is a serious problem. just because the leftist media is overhyping it doesn’t mean it’s not worthy of hype. Just like Trump said today, the problem is if we don’t slow it down with social distancing it will overwhelm our hospitals. It’s only at the point that it overwhelms the hospitals that it becomes an unmanageable situation and that is when the death rate shoots up, like what is happening in Italy.

Think of it like a DDOS attack on our hospitals.

Exactly. I would urge you (and anyone with an open mind) to read through this guy's Tweets: https://twitter.com/BioBreakout

People here disbelieve that this is a legit crisis, just bc the media has "cried wolf" so many times in the last x amount of years. The media/Dems are hijacking the issue for political reasons, yes, but the threat is still very real. People MUST start doing research and looking at things that challenge their notion of "it's just a flu"; if they seriously consider the issue and facts, they'll see they were wrong and that we have a serious problem on our hands.

And as someone with several underlying conditions that put me especially at risk for this, it frustrates/pains me to see people here who are not taking this seriously/don't care about keeping their fellow citizens safe. Since we know that even asymptomatic people can spread the virus.

First case in Seattle Jan 15th. Two months ago. Hospitals still not overwhelmed.

Most of the deaths there are from the nursing home, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, there's something up with this. I think almost half of the total deaths in the US are from the Washington nursing home too. It's clear that home didn't have proper PPE or procedures for quarantine in place.

I hope we can learn more about the age, race and health of those that have died and wokeness, i.e. "race is a social construct", doesn't keep us from investigating those connections.

There seems to be something to the ACE2 receptor density of the lungs and that seems to vary by race and whether a person smoked or was exposed to air pollution.
