Well, what is the guy wrong about? Do you not find it the least bit interesting that someone who was so certain it was "just the flu" could change his mind so much after facing real-life cases? And can you tell me that we have enough ventilators to handle the amount of cases coming? Did you even research the numbers on that?
It's astonishing how people here are allowing themselves to be such sheep on this topic without even looking at the facts. All because they're so used to the media crying wolf, that when the media hijacks a real crisis to try and take down Trump with it, you people act like it must not actually be a crisis. I can't really blame you, but come on! Open your eyes and look at what's happening. Italy and China have never reacted to "just the flu" with such drastic measures in the past.
Are you looking at the numbers and the projections on a daily basis? Are you looking at what's happened in Italy? Are you looking at the interviews with the Italian doctors? Are you looking at how many ventilators we have vs. how many we'll need? Are you looking at how many COVID patients are being admitted to Italian hospitals at a fast rate, while patients are discharged at a slow rate?
The system in Italy is buckling under the sheer number of cases who need ICU. We need to slow the spread here, or we are in some serious trouble. Our hospitals do not have enough ventilators to handle what's coming. Please, please do some more research and don't write this all off just because the media is trying to incite panic.

You should care! Since there's evidence that maybe you're wrong about this whole thing! People here keep acting like there's no crisis, just because the media has hijacked the crisis to try and take down Trump. The crisis is real, and our hospitals will be overrun just like Italy's if people don't sacrifice and slow the spread of this. The rest of you have to upend your lives because asymptomatic transmission is a proven thing, and you will bring it home to family members and transmit to them.
Not all of the vulnerable are elderly.
People on immunosuppressant drugs are vulnerable. And even if they stay home, their family members can still bring it home to them.
This can happen at any other time, with any other virus. Life is difficult, we don't turn out the lights because it's risky

My parents are smart, they are staying home and think that it's a giant over reaction to shut down all of society. My wife's grandmother is ancient, a damn dust mite could kill her. She's also smart enough to stay home.
People over 80 are in general quite fragile. It's like all of society has just realized this. Gasp! Old people are frail! Quick, shut down EVERYTHING.

How are we going to prevent the hospitals from getting overwhelmed? There are not enough ICU beds/ventilators. Do the math; we are in trouble if we don't slow the spread. Italy is now having to decide who to treat and who to let die, because they are over-capacity. We can't let that happen here. It is up to everyone to do their part to try and keep their fellow citizens safe.
Italy has socialized healthcare, it can't handle anything. So it is not a comparison at all. We didn't get overwhelmed with the swine flu, we'll survive. Toughen up, nancy
