I also have elderly parents. All you're doing is name calling and concern trolling, which makes me think you're definitely a troll.

My parents are smart, they are staying home and think that it's a giant over reaction to shut down all of society. My wife's grandmother is ancient, a damn dust mite could kill her. She's also smart enough to stay home.

People over 80 are in general quite fragile. It's like all of society has just realized this. Gasp! Old people are frail! Quick, shut down EVERYTHING.

And even though we DO Shut down stuff, some of the old folks are Still going outside lol. That's on them

How are we going to prevent the hospitals from getting overwhelmed? There are not enough ICU beds/ventilators. Do the math; we are in trouble if we don't slow the spread. Italy is now having to decide who to treat and who to let die, because they are over-capacity. We can't let that happen here. It is up to everyone to do their part to try and keep their fellow citizens safe.

Italy has socialized healthcare, it can't handle anything. So it is not a comparison at all. We didn't get overwhelmed with the swine flu, we'll survive. Toughen up, nancy

You don't understand diseases. Swine flu and ebola were technically deadlier, meaning the virus didn't effectively spread as fast/as much as this. This disease causes serious complications that can result in very long hospital stays (so, hospitals run out of ICU/ventilators), which still can end in death after weeks. But since the beds are taken, others are turned away and denied care. Why aren't you looking at the exponential growth of this??? Why aren't you looking at the numbers, and at how many ventilators this country even has? We don't have enough. We are going to be overrun, and soon.

People over 80 arent the only ones who can die. There are a lot of people with chronic health conditions, or people who recovered from cancer. They are at risk too.

If our hospitals get overwhelmed, it will because of dumb selfish cunts like you, and not for any other reason.

If we end up slowing this thing down so that our hospitals aren’t overwhelmed, it will have absolutely nothing to do with dumb, selfish cunts like you.

Lmao. Reeeeeeeeeeee.

Swine flu, 60 million infected in the USA, 12k dead. Somehow we survived!

Why do you keep refusing to understand that this is different??? This is more lethal. Also, this is a disease that, for the people who land in the ICU, they are typically there for 2-8 weeks. This is also more contagious than the flu. So you've got a limited number of ICU beds, and those beds are being occupied for weeks at a time before they are available again. Hospitals in Italy are admitting patients faster than they are discharging patients. Do the math; it doesn't work. We already know that we don't have enough ICU/ventilators in the US; this is why Trump is offering to help states purchase additional ones, so that we can try and stand a fighting chance. We run the same risk as Italy, if we can't slow down the spread so that the hospitals don't get overwhelmed.

Swine flu didn’t threaten to overwhelm our hospitals, this does. You don’t know what you’re talking about. I didn’t attack you for choosing to go to work, I respectfully asked you to take care to avoid at risk populations since you are choosing not to follow Trump’s guidelines. Your response was fucking disgusting.
