Chill, pede. We’ll get through this. It’s a weird thing, for sure. It’s not that much different than 9/11 was, though. They stopped all flights across the whole country for days. People were just stranded in airports, left to find a different way to get back home. But we made it through that, we’ll make it through this.

I hear you. But really, for your fathers health, keep your family away from him.

We’re here if you need us.

We're all in this together. Right there with you.

Spend the downtime with your fam, break out that ps4 and replay witcher 3, make some spicy af memes.

It's going to be ok. Come summer, we'll be back to MAGA as usual and the MSM will be trying to find something else to shit on POTUS about.

Hang in there man!

I'm in China. I'm just now coming out of this (still on lockdown at night). If Chinese people can make it, Americans and the rest of the West is going to breeze through.

Love to you all!

I enjoy reading your posts. Thanks for offering your perspective from China. I know you’ve been as frustrated as me at times, trying to get people to understand this is a real threat if we don’t take it seriously.

I think the President finally broke through to most people today though, now it’s just the usual suspects who thrive on conspiracy, lol.

Having your freedom removed is a scary thing. On day 13 of my lockdown, when video of people being welded into their apartments (we don't have fire escapes) made it to me in WeChat, I nearly lost my mind.

So I know what you guys are starting to go through.

Chinese people are born and raised to be complacent sheep. That's really my best analogy, I think it is perfectly fitting. Much of my day is consumed breaking them out of this mentality (because the survival of a start-up requires innovation).

Anyway, it's easier for them to comply.

Not so much for a freedom loving MAGA patriot (or even a Bernie loving bro - if you tell them they can't do something (funny how they love freedom when it is their own freedom in question)).

I just want you all to follow the POTUS and self-isolate. It'll be over soon and everyone will forget. MSM will be on to some new pile of horseshit...

If I believed this was just a flu, I'd be shouting it down with the rest, but I honestly believe there is something special about this. The Chinese are spending and losing money on this like I've never seen before.

Please be safe.

Thank you for your perspective! Social acclimation is real. Are cultures are about as opposite as it gets.

If you ever learn the truth of what became of those welded in, those placed in quarantine, the large clouds of sulfur dioxide detected by satellite... please do let us know. Our news surely won't tell us truth here in US.

Our biological makeup is identical as humans. I have read the medical descriptions of how this virus kills while we're on a ventilator. Also what a pulmonary therapist needs to do in that case. And how a patient will respond (panic) And that most of our pulmonary therapists don't have the training to know how to handle this extreme case, even without the panic. Therapist will make the difference between 41/100 dying vs 16/100, same equipment.

No, this is not "just the flu."

I wish everyone in the US had enough chloroquine (or whatever it's called) just in case. Have you had any?

Raetchel 3 points ago +4 / -1

I'm an American.

I haven't taken any medications as I was locked down for 5 weeks (still can't go out at night).

I always wear a mask, wash my hands every time I pass a sink, and try to stay away from other people.

I don't think China stopped the virus, only the first wave. I think there will be a second wave here as people slack off again.

Hopefully we have a medicine by then.

Love you all.

Hi, I might be related to you. Listen, hes getting old and he's seen shit. Shutting down now for a week, to him, is not what it would have been years ago. He knows "this too will pass." My father told me today to always remember the kids are watching me to know how to feel.

Guessing your old man is 60+? Sounds like he is being sensible, and willing to err on the side of caution. Maybe doesn't want to take unnecessary risks so he can spend time with both of you.

It's admirable that you are working alongside him in an effort to make it a little easier for him. Maybe he is trying to do the same for you and his grandson this coming week. Be safe, and cherish the time with them both.

We are all Pedes together. I have the risk factors and am over 65. I totally understand not wanting to touch the screen at the gas pump, the bank ATM, or door handles. It's not possible to avoid surface contamination or to keep those public surfaces clean. If the place you live in is locking down, go with the flow and watch out for your Dad. Maybe tirn him on to this website... that will keep him busy.

You've gotta hand it to leftists: they really know how to manipulate the primitive part of the brain. Even if one is eminently rational, in control and completely aware that they're getting played, they can't help being surprised when they discover they're feeling considerable trepidation.

I know, because I'm 60 and I was in Lowe's today and I was all of a sudden very reluctant to touch the check-out touch screen. The more questions it put to me that demanded touches, the more panicky I got. Your dad seems to have found himself in the same boat: we don't have the luxury of being dumb, taking chances, and thinking we're gonna live forever, like you kids do. We've become more circumspect with age.

It's really nothing more than that.

Saw this great quote in another thread :

– Blue_Suede_Shoes_ (14 points) 5 hours ago

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

Frank Herbert, Dune

This is just the first time the newer generations have faced a pandemic. When I was born, polio was what everyone was scared of, but no quarantine from the government. I remember getting my first polio shot when I was about 4 years old.

My grandmother told me about the 1918 flu... she lost a brother to that. She said businesses had to close because there were no workers. They either died, or stayed home. That one seemed to infect young, healthy males.

Our government has used the media to make us feel that we are safe, when it isn't true. There are diseases and a very active group of criminals trying to ruin our government and economy. The Chinese are still in all parts of our country, and we need to kick them out.

Your old man is a patriot. The President asked people over 65 to reduce their social contact, and it sounds like he’s doing that. As long as you do that together you’ll be fine. Stay away from other people as much as you can, and hang out here with us.

This has the potential to be serious, but we can prevent the worst of it if we can follow the President’s directives for the next two weeks. We’re at a critical phase in the spread of the virus where if we can limit it, we can keep it from overloading our medical system.

It’s estimated that 40% of people probably won’t even catch it, so my goal is to be in that group. Limited social contact is the best way to avoid it.

Mostly just enjoy the time off! We’re in a holding pattern for a couple weeks, and then they’ll reassess where we are once they start testing more people.

I'm unclear as to why you're afraid of your old man taking a week off because of this. Is it because you think he's overreacting or because he's getting up in years?

I went to a family gathering on the weekend and I was assuming that the majority would agree with me that things will be fine. Wrong. I was the only one who felt that way. One professional sent half his staff home. Another manager told his boss who was coming from NY that he wasn't comfortable with him coming to the office. I was dumbfounded, these are intelligent and reasonable people...

I understand, I'm more worried about the recession and having to deal with shortages because people are stockpiling than the actual virus.

NY is a hotspot for the virus. There are tens to hundreds of thousands of carriers walking around with this virus. I don't blame them.

You missed the point of the passage. It's alright. Don't pass judgment on someone else because of your own lack of comprehension.

thewordwolf 0 points ago +1 / -1

Aw, thanks for the positive affirmation!

I find condescension from arrogant strangers to be quite therapeutic.

1
Razeontherock 1 point ago +1 / -0

Irony duly noted. You were being condescending to a complete stranger, while being 100% wrong in your assessment.

Meanwhile I'm just stating facts. Has nothing to do with any of the vile nonsense you spewed.

0
thewordwolf 0 points ago +2 / -2

"Spewed."

verb - past tense: spewed; past participle: spewed - expel large quantities of (something) rapidly and forcibly.

I said five words. While you're in the process of noting things, you should probably note your own hyperbole.
