Although I think our economy will be just fine. I saw Amazon is struggling to keep up with all their orders-business is booming. They play to hire 100,000 more employees and pay employees $2 more than normal.
Went to Walmart for groceries last night. The place was like Black Friday. Shelves were empty, people were buying...Walmart is going to have great earnings this quarter and I can see they need more employees to stock the shelves, clean, etc.
Instead of wallowing like a victim, if you get laid off from a restaurant or a bar job go seek employment in something else (temporarily). There are jobs to be had in every situation...if hospitals are overloaded right now, they need to hire more people to clean, help with forms...they need people working at COVID-19 testing centers, healthcare workers need childcare support while they are working extra hours. When the typewriter businesses went extinct, did we whine about it? No. We learned to code and use computers. Things evolve, situations are fluid. Can Americans stop buying toilet paper and whining doom and gloom and seize the opportunities that always emerge in a big event.
I'm getting in on the food delivery services if I'm temporarily out of work. Should be a huge spike in demand.

I think the actual law is pretty clear on it imo, and it’s a problem. I think the wall isn’t the right idea, I think border patrol is undermanned and underfunded and I think enhancing that agency is the right move.

Homelessness is tricky. There are tons of excellent programs for homeless people in Boston to get back on their feet. Free ESL lessons for immigrants, free job retraining, and free shelters. It’s a successful safety network, and I’m cool with my tax bucks going to it. That being said, if a homeless heroine addict doesn’t want to take advantage? Tough shit, die. Boston’s homeless problem isn’t remotely as bad as San Francisco which is totally fucked, and I think it probably has to do with culture, specifically work ethic. Bostonians are known for being hard working assholes.
