In the old days, none of this would have been an issue. Some people would just get sick and die. Honestly, 1 or 2% dying wouldn't have affected soceity too much.

But these aren't the old days. We have incredibly complex and integrated supply chains, we have instant global communications, and most importantly, society is incredibly divided and polarized. Do you know who is going to be dying from this virus? Old white people. Its going to change politics.

The just-in-time supply chains were overdue for this type of event. Be glad that the actual virus is so mild compared to what it could have been. The supply chains would have caused mass starvation and death if this was actually anything serious.

Don't take any of this lightly. This isn't so much a few people dying from a virus as it is a highly unstable society getting jostled. Just hope it can all stay together without breaking down and collapsing.

China is different than the west. They are a homogeneous society. They don't have immigrants infiltrating it trying to bring it down. They weren't on the verge of civil war before this started. We are.

Everyone needs to be taking this very seriously.

The HK people are united against a common enemy.

The American people are divided among themselves.
