I'm not saying I disagree with you but I believe the point of the money is to ensure people who lapse in work directly because of corona will still have a money stream. For them "keeping their money" is ineffectual.

I don't like this idea of direct payments. Tax cuts, yes, let me keep my money, but you don't give people something for nothing, it's bad policy.
