- continued stability improvements to Win's image hosting
- can now resize textareas (when submitting comments and messages)
- can now see the total number of comments in a thread from inbox and profile
- added social media icons to desktop site's header
- fixed dark mode sidebar background on mobile
- made visited links a different color in dark mode, and a slight adjustment on light mode
- "http" links are no longer eligible to be embedded
- clicking post title on post page (as opposed to within a listing) now respects your "open links in new tab" setting
- fixed pagination in inbox (previously pressing "next page" would revert you to sorting all messages, rather than your selection such as just comment replies, or just private messages)
- fixed some issues caused by yesterday's font change (such as private message title no longer appearing bold)

It's also really hard to determine unique views without having someone logged in or using invasive tracking methods.
Reddit, due to all of their advertising hook ins, could easily get those metrics.
You could just count the number of logged in users who visited in the past, say, 15 minutes. It's not invasive because they obviously have to track your status for you to even use the site.
So what is it like in Australia right now? Do you feel safe having voluntarily given up your guns... with the China Virus wreaking havoc and causing people to hoard and covet what others have? Most of your comment replies support going back to Reddit... not at all for the people on this site and that love our POTUS.

It's probably best that the mods control the 'narrative' of online users at this point. Things are going very positive for such a 'niche' site, and they only stand to get better once trump gets his second term.
If it's a smaller number, people might be disheartened and not engage as much. It's just not feasible to expect we're going to hit T_Ds usual numbers we had on reddit, so any number will look small by contrast. Looking forward to the growth of the site, though.
There is also the point of not showing your cards. The less that those that mean to destroy or silence us know about how engaged our movement is, the better.

No that means that only https websites can be embedded, which are most sites. Https makes sure your connection is secure . Also, Kekpe.pe uses https.
It does but I made a silly mistake where people were still posting the http link when using it. All good to go now.

http = not encrypted, much like a postcard, where everyone who moves it from the sender to the receiver can read it
https = encrypted, like sending an envelope containing a shredded note written in a made-up language that only you and the recipient can correctly reassemble and understand (only more secure)
Embedding http in https can compromise the encrypted data by having access to it when not encrypted. (I know networking, but I've never read up on http embedded on an https page, so I don't know the finer details.)

HTTP is how the content you send gets from Point A (Your computer) to Point B (thedonald). It is also unencrypted meaning it gets sent as plain text so anybody intercepting in between A and B can read it. It was the general standard until around 2010ish when loads of websites starting moving exclusively to HTTPS.
HTTPS is encrypted HTTP. When your message is sent from Point A to Point B only you and the website you are posting to have the "key" to reading it. To anybody intercepting it is nothing but gibberish.
This ensures sensitive information like your email and password are only ever seen by the intended sender and recipient.

Sorry, this was my fault. kekpe.pe uses https by default but the URLs were still showing as http under the uploaded image. This was an obvious mistake on my part but I just recently got my schedule cleared up to start fixing things. Thank you for pointing this out. Sorry for the confusion.

The last watch party was a bit janky. I don't know if there were server issues handling the traffic or if we were getting DDoS'd (or maybe it was just our high energy) but I'd make smoothing that out a priority. With so many folks stuck at home needing a morale boost and live rallies being impractical at the moment, this place is more important than ever, and it's always the most fun when everyone's telling stories around the campfire. If we could get the Don himself to lead a virtual rally/AMA stream/fireside chat kinda thing (from the Lincoln Sitting Room might be nice) this place would off the chain. Are y'all ready to rumble?
Submit a Post - I find it difficult to determine which of the "Select Applicable Tags" - Meme, News, Videos, or Tweets buttons have been selected by just looking at it.
Resizable textboxes are very nice, but I'd also recommend setting a sane minimum size as well. It looks a bit silly to be able to shrink the textbox to roughly a 16x20 pixel box!
(This is an extremely minor quibble. There are certainly higher priorities than visual aesthetics that most people will never encounter.)

I have seen this request a couple times but never get enough upvotes to merit a response, so I'll give it a shot:
Please implement a soft "hide" for posts that you have upvoted or commented.
Yes there is a hide function already, the problem is that it doesn't actually change the post's order on the page. If I hide every post I've read on the front page, instead of getting 25 new posts I just get a blank page. I would like some way to tell the website, "I've seen this, read it, contributed, please show me new stuff" so I don't have to constantly go four or five pages deep to get "New" content (I'm not really patient enough to sort wheat from chaff in the actual New queue).
Basically every hour that I revisit TDw I would like to see things I haven't seen on my front page. I also don't want the front page to cycle too quickly and people miss important things. The best compromise, I feel, is to give people the option to hide things without it actually still taking up a slot on the page.
Bonus: it encourages people to upvote and comment.
Looks like the inbox sort fix also fixed a similar issue in Top where going to page 2 reset the sort to top posts for the week. Thanks Devs!

I generally access the site on desktop browser while I work. I have an image preview plug-in (called 'Hover Free') in my browser (Opera). Since the recent update to make clicking the thumbnail expand the image, I can no longer see the image by hovering the mouse on it thru the plug-in. Its a little annoying.

That's fairly easy to recover a hidden post. The line connecting replies to the comment they respond to changes color, and there's a very small +. Click on that with a stylus and it comes back.
This is indeed all very close together with upvote / downvote, and hard to hit the right button even with a very fine pointed stylus.

It's often the little things.
The mobile text box still seems to require some pinch-and-zoom, so there might be a responsiveness adjustment needed for mobile web, but pretty minor.

I know this would be a big update but it would be nice to have each post as a card kinda like Reddit. Hate to give much credit to them, but the UI is stellar. Having the images/tweets/youtube videos already showing when you're scrolling through is very clean and convenient!
