Especially since Social Security is the money we gave to the government to 'hold' and invest for us. We shouldn't have to come 'hat in hand' to get our own money back. Makes me glad that Trump is in the White House because he understands this.

The SS disaster is a reminder what a bad idea M4A is. Congress would redirect that money for other pandering uses and our health infrastructure would crumble, see the VA.

Social Security per se isn't a "disaster." The disaster is that the Johnson administration decided it was okay to loot the Social Security fund for any other expenses it saw fit. Like the Great Society and the Vietnam War.

You are 100% right that Congress would "redirect" (read: steal) any "for all" money for whatever it saw fit.

Lots of govt programs are not disasters until implemented by the govt. The govt sucks at just about everything it tries.

Regular social security and Medicare are not entitlements. I have been paying into it for a long time.

I've been paying into social security since the early 80's, it damn well better be there when I'm ready to collect it. You do what you do best GEOTUS, look out for the interest of the American people. KAG

I understand he's campaigning here, but those two programs are a disaster, insolvent, and are in the hole an amount at least equal to the entire wealth of every household in the country. Not to mention they consume something like 60% or more of the federal budget.

Millennials like me will not be getting Social Security. End it. Pay out to everyone who's paid in, and have everyone younger than the cutoff deposit for savings. And then end the Fed so interest rates can return to where they need to be and saving actually has value again.

But nope. The Fed keeps us all spending and running the treadmill. Gotta keep rates low. God I hate the hole this country has dug itself into for the past few generations.

End it now. I would accept continuing payments to people already drawing a SS check, but nobody new gets in.

“WeLfArE iSn’T aN EnTiTlEmEnT b/C I pAiD iNtO iT!” No you didn’t. SOCIAL security is a socialist welfare scheme, a Ponzi scheme, created by socialists, where older people’s handouts are funded by younger generations. Welfare leaches pay various taxes directly and indirectly too, but that doesn’t justify their welfare entitlements because they “paid into it”. Some Conservatives still need to ditch all socialism and be consistent in principles.

I would be quite content if we ended social security outright. It’s a shame I’ve already paid so much money into such a failure of a system, but I’d much rather cut my loses now, pay no more, and invest my extra money the way I see fit.

At this point cutting Social Security just means government gets to steal you deposit + interest.

Social security going bankrupt and turning a blind eye is fine, but cutting it won't win any votes.

They need to allow us to take that money and put it into an IRA, and a health savings account. More freedom will help us. It would be a step in the right direction in my opinion.
