COVID-19 has only been in the US for a few weeks, so you can't directly compare it to flu deaths per year. And either way that's missing the point, this virus is spreading exponentially right now in the US so the 54 deaths will also grow exponentially if people keep saying 'its just the flu'. If the virus spreads as it has been this last week (+30% per day) we will have 11.7 million cases in 30 days.
Listen, Chicken Little...stop shitting yourself. Its just the flu. Otherwise the whole world has to go into PERMANENT lockdown FOREVER just so around 15,000 geriatrics and/or immuno-suppressed can last a little longer out of the 37,000 who would normally die from the flu, sad as it is, EVERY year.
No we don't have to go into permanent lockdown. But saying 'its fine just ignore it' is just going to let it continue to spread exponentially. Its been spreading exponentially thus far, theres no reason to say it will magically stop if we keep on about the same way
Last year 37,000 Americans died from the common flu. Not so great either BUT its just the flu. This Covid 19 has killed how many in U.S....54?? https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1237027356314869761
