We went shopping today and apparently people are hoarding a lot of hot dogs, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. I'm pretty sure I don't want to know why.

People only have so many assholes and toilet paper takes a lot of room to hoard. The hoarders are going to run out of space soon.

If the US runs out of food it's because our trucks have stopped functioning or something. We throw so much away that everyone could stockpile a year's worth and there'd be little problem.

I work in supply chain for a very large foodservice company. We have been around for over 100 years and every person in the company is working around the clock to make sure we will be here for 100 more.

This isn't a war where factories were bombed and the capacity is gone. It's a logistics problem of everyone trying to buy months of food all at once. You can't raise an extra 100 million chickens in a week. Once the panic buying is over things will return to normal.

Learn from this--once this is over keep 30-60 days of non-perishable food on hand at all times (building up slowly over time).
