If Trump proposed this, Schumer would instead propose SchumerBux. This is standard "Trump is always wrong about everything" behavior.

Interest rates are zero but Schumer is offering "low" interest loans...how about no interest loans?

Honestly I'm not that big of a fan of Trump's free check idea. It sets a really bad precedent. And I lost my crappy job over this so I'd probably be entitled to it.

But I'd rather just see the federal government spend the money on filling up the coffers of state unemployment funds. They will surely be depleted. I can't even get through to my state's website to apply and I've been trying every 10 minutes for the past 12 hours.

^ This is America.

I'm praying for you, Pede. Good luck with the short-term relief and the new and improved career when this clears up.

I also read it might be two checks (April 6, and May 18th) which I think helps worsen the effects instead of a one time payment does.

If we do it, I'd also rather it just be included in a tax return, that way people don't get accustomed to the idea of receiving free money every month. Most people get a refund anyways, it would just be like everyone gets a bigger one than usual.

I think in this situation it can work monetarily. We'll see a bunch of deflation naturally occur in the economy during this lockdown period. People will be less inclined to purchase too much (to excluded obviously 🙄) but mainly durable goods will show down immensely.

Printing a little bit can help offset that for a little while with some manufactured inflation and control prices some so that the recovery will happen a little faster once businesses open back up and people start to hire again.

I would take this time order and work on advancing or developing a hard skill to help yourself get back on your feet once this is all over.

Best of luck to you!

Are the libs starting to wake up? Are they finally seeing that the conservatives were right all along?

Honestly, I think this is an "8 Mile" final rap battle style where you beat your opponent to the punch. He knows the dems are anxious to give out free shit, so the president comes out with the idea first, of course the dems have to go opposite whatever he does, so they sabotage themselves in the process.

All that aside, I am really not a fan of printing money, as it is going to cause an inflationary problem, but if this virus actually is a big deal, like they say it is, comping the economy over mass casualties is a downright bargain. Does it hurt? Yeah, but I don't mind when that perspective is put on it.
