There’s a way of getting your point across that doesn’t discourage the normal Joe from understanding your overarching point. Especially when you consider what’s happening in many people’s lives at the moment. They are looking for some spark of hope. Is this the magic bullet? After reading your arguments, I tend to think not. However, the average user on this site doesn’t have your background, and I think you might be a bit more diplomatic when you interject. Besides, it does sound somewhat promising, despite the small sample size and the other factors you noted. And down voters. I get down voted for unpopular opinions and then get ad hominem attacks. Ex. Legal opinion on whether DJT was impeached even before articles were transmitted to the Senate. It was my opinion -- and I'm a lawyer -- that he was. I got attacked and the jerkoff went back to my comment history and found I was a Bernie supporter, which I do occasionally mention in my posts at T_D. He concluded I still was a Bernie supporter because -- of course -- he didn't have the time to read all my later posts, and then proceeded to use that as an argument against my opinion instead of arguing on the merits/substance. And he got upvoted and me down voted. Sheeple.
Don't even get me started on people who think Duterte is a good guy. Clueless and cavalier about something they only have a glancing knowledge of.
Yeah it really sucks, but so far this place has vastly better than where we came from. I'm grateful for it, because I'd rather have real human interaction than kid gloves and the chilling effect of censorship and cancel culture.
