Lockdowns admittedly don't work overnight. They really take a couple weeks or more to really start to become effective. All the people who contracted a few days ago might not notice until later into the lockdown.

Note: I am not for lockdowns. They are authoritarian and unnecessary.

Thats not what has happened in spain. It only took like 2 or 3 days for the message to get around (600 euro fine for being outside if not going to supermarket, or having more than one person per car, military everywhere). The lockdown was a few days ago and now most people are staying inside. I have friends who live there, seems to be pretty much everyone is complying.
