So, after this all blows over and we are back to normal I want to get one or two "guns of my own" and proper training to learn what the hell I'm doing. I've got an inherited rifle and handgun and ammo for them already, so if all hell were to break loose I'm ahead of a Bernie bro, but still I'm not really skilled and practiced.

What I'm curious if we are talking "buy American" what gun brands should I be looking at? I'm mainly interested in general purpose fun rifles to shoot at a range. I see a lot of German, French and Austrian companies and that's at least better than China. Are the American brands all made in the USA? I don't want any Chinese firearms.

i try to have a Buy American policy, the only non-American made guns I owned, before the boat wreck, were gifts.

Ruger, Marlin,Savage, Springfield Armory are some good choices, depending on what all you like/want/need.

Not all American brands are made here, many import goods. Some Springfield pistols are made in Croatia for instance, Savage makes some rifles in Canada, others do similar things. You have to check, manufacturers will make some here and import some, sometimes.

Ruger is made here tho, usually they are relatively inexpensive and very reliable.

A short list of American makers, this is not all of them.

Ruger, Kimber, Wilson Combat, CMMG, DPMS, Kel-Tec, Hi-Point, Colt, Springfield (not XD models), Charter Arms, Remington, Ithaca, Henry Rifles, Keystone Sporting Arms, Bond Arms, Heritage Manufacturing, American Derringer.
