Here's the thing - the most effective treatment consists of this stuff PLUS azithromycin (zpack) - which happens to get manufactured almost exclusively in China.

Good point. Solution: Get someone else to manufacture it.

It was dumb to move that stuff to China. They say it was an issue of cost, but they add a huge markup anyway.

It was smart on China's part. They unleash the virus, lockdown their country after letting it spread a little, and laugh as the world is unable to take action to stop it on China's level.

Don't listen to the CCP shills. The virus is a serious threat to American hegemony. Unless you guys wanna look like the Soviets in the 90s while China takes our spot, I suggest you start MAGAing and following the established guidelines.

It has a secondary value for them - it gave them a chance to make a lot of dissidents in Hong Kong and the Mainland "disappear" into the crematoriums whether they had the virus or not.

Actually looks like a bunch of companies in India and Spain make it. Here's a list with China filtered out. Mind you this doesn't really give insights into production capacities.

I'm not sure about this specific drug, but something like 75% of the precursor chemicals that India and other countries need to manufacture various drugs still come from China. That also needs to change. Stat.

You said "most effective" but how effective is it without the zpack?

The only study so far had less than 50 people in it, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think around 20% of people taking only chloroquine had recovered by the time that 100% of people taking both drugs had recovered.

From what I understand the azithromycin is used to reduce opportunistic bacterial infections while the virus is taxing the immune system. It's possible that other antibiotics like streptomycin or tetracycline will work just as well as long as there aren't any contraindications

There is a LOT of azithromycin sitting on shelves and in warehouses/distribution centers.
