this is so important! when respondents are chosen because the researcher believes they will respond in a certain way, the sample isnt random! And, when a researcher designs a question to be leading or to foster a specific reply, the questions are no longer unbiased. Unfortunately, public polling is run by the same kinds of activists that claim to be reporters when they work for a news paper.
