If you never believe any of the data then it's impossible to discuss anything.

If you do believe the data coming from South Korea, Japan, Europe and the US, then the actual numbers don't support your hysteria.

Serious situation... yes.....Requires hysteria... no.

No, it doesn't require hysteria but the modelling based on other countries points towards active supression as the only way to stop millions of Americans dying and the collapse of the hospitals.

Then they say they must maintain supression for anywhere from months - to years - until they can create a vaccine or it will reinfect the population.

Believe it or not this is reality now. They will begin to actively supress society to "flatten the curve" and may even introduce tracking technology seen overseas.

I'm not saying it's right. I'm giving this to you as a warning.

I think everyone agrees that active suppression is necessary to slow the spread of the virus, which is exactly what is being done pretty much everywhere.

There is not enough data to know how long and what types of suppression will be required to keep the virus spread from overwhelming the healthcare system. This will obviously vary from country to country.

Keep in mind that we will have drugs to treat this virus long before we have a vaccine, and once proven therapies exist it will significantly reduce the need for social distancing. At that point restrictions can be lessened, and the severe restrictions will only be needed in specific hotspot areas.

Trying to claim that the current restrictions will need to be in place for years is hysterical in my book.

I'm not the one claiming it. Do your research. It's not hysterical to point out to you what the modelling they are literally using is indicating.

Don't shoot the messenger. The modelling was calculated for the US btw.
