I wouldn't be surprised if China's actual case numbers are up in the millions, with hundreds of thousands if not a few million dead. There's no way a country with a population of 1.4 billion would take the extreme measures they've been taking, for something that was "just the flu".

China is trying to act like they've got this situation under control when there's almost no way they do—and even if they do, there's no way the numbers are as low as what they're officially telling us.
