Disaster relief is not socialism and in fact is one of the very few areas where the government should actually step in to give aid. Especially when the cause of the economic portion of the disaster is government mandated restrictions on business.
I'm a libertarian so I'm 100% for limited government except to protect it's citizens. This is one time where they need to protect us. I know people getting laid off, soon they will have no way to pay rent or bills. They really need this until businesses can start interviewing again.
I don't really like it. I'm not sure I will get it and that's fine. I don't need it and would rather not be included.
There are plenty of people that have recently been through rough times and through the recent good economy have managed to be brought up and get themselves on their feet. They have tried to do good but haven't had time to really set up for long term stability. These people I welcome helping.
What bugs me is the people that refuse to save and prepare themselves when they could have. We all know these people. It has nothing to do with their income either it applies to almost all income levels. They make no effort to prepare for the future when they could take one less night out at the club and save a little money. I'm sorry, I don't want to bail these people out. They should have taken a little responsibility.
Possibly bad, but that would depend on who gets it and if they make good life choices. I also think this is a one time thing and not a recurring issue. it stops once the Kung Flu is gone and people can recover.
No, It was not the Fault of the Workers and owners that had to shut down. The Governments of the States shut them down. Nobody else. Its not their fault. So helping them out instead of the Banks and Bidens kids is a better option
I think in the current emergency (whether it's overkill or not, it exists and we have to deal with it) keeping money in circulation makes sense. We should have to pay a flat X% tax for the next 5 years to make up for the expenditure now, rather like the special tax levied for 10 years after WW2
I’m not crazy about it because I’m terrified we’re teetering on a cliff of insurmountable debt, but I pay a shit ton of taxes using money I WORK FOR, so I’m just getting my money back in theory.
If this was real socialism we would be locked down in our homes and there would be no hope at all of ever getting any kind of aid at all. So maybe we see what socialism is differently.
i am definitely against it and worry it would become the basis of UBI. However, if i just stood on principle Ron Paul is the only person I could ever support. I understand the impracticality of Dr. Paul's approach (because of how divided the country is) although I support almost everything he says. I am worried about Dr. Fauci and how he keeps pushing for more and more state control. I am worried about curfews being imposed. I am worried about erosion of our liberties. All that being said, I would 100% rather have DJT in office rather than a Democrat.
I'm a Canadian: This is most definitely socialism, unless Trump is doing it to devalue the USD and effectively pushing the Fed Reserve debt off the cliff.
If this doesn't result in a Fed restructure and USD backed by something, it's bad.
Why not just give us all 1000$ a day indefinitely for nothing...
I would much rather we give everybody nothing and suffer through this together. Natural Selection style.... where your lack of preparation/white privilege bites you in the ass hard. It sucks, but then again so do most things in life.
The fact that we'd be on the hook for at least 2X of what we'd get back...

This would be socialism in much the same way riding a horse for five minutes would make you a professional rodeo cowboy. World of difference.
This is a much better argument than saying it's just the govt giving you your own money back, which could have been said about Yang's plan.
It's not socialism. It's more like a tax break.
If it was socialism a new tax would be created to fund this and anyone above average would be taxed more than they received.
Cancel Income taxes! No commie bux!

Dont care for it. But it doesnt appear that we are going to have much of a choice.
So I'll go buy a gun or something with it. Invest it in the economy.

Maybe it's just an issue that we have a lot of valid discussion and differing viewpoints?
I already make too much money I get no check!
then give it to us
We will, but we have to wait and until then the government has to have our backs
