If this was an intentional release, then the Chinese government would have either vaccinated their troops beforehand, or been prepared with known, effective treatments for symptoms.
Authoritarian governments cannot risk their military being sidelined by an intentional release of a serious disease. If their military is hit worse than the civilians in some parts of the country, they might see revolts or loss of control.
If the Chinese military shows no significant losses of cohesion or serious operational/logistical issues, then that points towards an intentional release.
You just made me think about our own military, which i haven't been thinking of during this time because this is a biological war not a conventional war. I hope our boys and girls in uniform are protected to the max, I'm sure they are but they need to be extra careful.
I was thinking about the same thing the past couple days. The impact on a country’s military force readiness during a “pandemic” like this is pretty substantial. Has China restricted travel of their military members within their own country? Have they closed off their bases to prevent this virus from getting in? Have they diverted civilian medical resources to those bases? Have they reported any number of military members infected that are consistent with the civilian population? Have supply chains been slowed down or cutoff between military installations? If the answer to these things is ‘no’, then it seems like their government isn’t concerned at all about their soldiers health. Maybe the release was intentional and they’re vaccinated? Maybe they have other protections they’re not taking about? I have no idea and won’t claim that I do.... but your thoughts here are a pretty damn interesting concept to think about.
One thing is for sure though.... China is ass-hoe.
I have no doubt that someone is watching and studying their military throughout this event, especially regarding the possibility of an intentional release. I think there will be revelations and some recourse in the next year or two.
The PLA has been massively affected. At least one nuclear sub crew had to be quarantined. All the soldiers they deployed to maintain social order probably have a high infection rate. The police and military police are the next most affected groups after medical staff. Members of the politboro have been infected. There may be 1 or 2 imminent deaths of the people up top. They can only hide what's been going on for a little while longer.
