Different times. We don't live in the stone age anymore and with every year we have increased knowledge and resources to save more lives than before. There's no reason to default to the very best people could do in the past, we can do better thus have the responsibility to do better.

Having a feral viewpoint of this situation will only result in needless death and a weakened society. Saying that we should resort to more brutish tactics is taking the easy way out and an excuse to not think intensely about how you can save as many people as possible.

If your whole mantra is about making sacrifices, stay home. Don't be another vessel for this virus to infect anyone else. It's easy to talk big on the internet but when it comes down to it I doubt the majority of people here would be willing to give even their arm to save another person's life.
