The thing that hurts is all the workers that support the entertainment industry. From the riggers and grip hands, tech workers, set builders to the concession stand worker and the local business that are only open because of the traffic from sporting events. Yeah, we can easily say screw the millionaire cry babies, but our fellow "regular Joe" folks are being absolutely crushed.
The economic fallout is far greater than the virus. I don't know the actual percentage but I'd wager close to 95% of folks are not operating on a cash model. They are leveraged up to the their eyeballs with a mortgage, a car payment, credit card payments, and no emergency fund/savings.
I hope most of you are. My wife and I are blessed to be absolutely debt free with an actual emergency fund, food and necessities and guns ready to go. A lot of other folks do not. Stay safe, stay healthy, and try not to be too calloused.
Maybe we can start using American Labor to do the essential and important production we have given over to the Chinese Virus Producers? There are trillions of $$$$$$$$ in the production of essentials we have given over to the Commies. Hollyweird is a BAD INVESTMENT of labor/manpower.
I don't miss any of the sports except March Madness, every other sport can end and it wouldn't bother me. I was done with pro football and basketball long ago anyway. I do appreciate some golf on a Sunday afternoon sometimes. :-)
I'm actually feeling generally positive about this whole ordeal right now. Even if the road is rocky, it's forcing society to take a good hard look at what is actually essential, and refocusing our economy on those sectors. Increasing wages in grocery stores has already been one fantastic outcome, as these people play a major role in everyone's day to day lives yet they have been treated for decades as if doing that job means you must be a failure. People are already singing the praises of truckers who have been badly maligned by social opinion for a long time, and hopefully they too will be seeing an increase in compensation soon to properly appreciate the vital, and dangerous (truckers have a life expectancy of just 62 years) conditions they work in.
My tony grocery store where the prepared food section is the busiest was out of yeast. YEAST! The coronavirus may actually have trophy wives dusting off the bread machines they got as wedding gifts.
