Complex answer: it depends on experience, training, personal skill level, and your particular environment. Is your friend a person who has never handled a firearm before? Or has some familiarity? Has your friend had any basic safety training? Skills training? Is your friend someone who can balance two nickels on tho oof each other vertically on edge? Or a klutz? Urban/suburban/rural? Condo/apartment/attached house/ freestanding house/ cabin in the woods? That all said, it is hard to go wrong with a pump-action shotgun.
