Lol this article is a joke. And it magically assumes that China has 0 new corona cases which is a blatant LIE. Instead of corona, their hospitals are reporting a huge spike in “Unidentified pneumonia” cases.

No, you don't understand.

They commies finally learned their lesson and apologized for killing Dr Li Wenliang and fired all those nasty bad commie's and replaced them with brand new nice commies.

Nothing to see here, certainly not attempting to stop the flood of factories being shuttered and foreign investment drying up. Nope, never you mind the numbers they are reporting are statistically impossible given the widespread outbreak and massive population numbers.

This is red charlie chatter.

Makes me smile a little to know what must be happening for them to feel the need to write this.

This is what the beginning of the ultimate success of decoupling looks like, IMO.

Agreed. Has China eliminated cash and barter transactions? The article wants you to assume that. You won't get data from those.

We could kick the legs out from under China in a matter of months. We don’t have to trade with them. We don’t have to protect Middle East oil for their consumption. We don’t have to ignor their shadow debt. We don’t have to allow them to store their wealth in our urban real estate.

We can fuck these guys an ten other fronts right now with out ever firing a shot.

This article is veiled propaganda and has no place here.

The quoted outake is the only remotely critical text. The rest of the article justifies every liberty damaging Chinese practice in the book.

“Asia Times” I known to have an anti-American bias in their opinion pieces.

This. I regret reading it. Seriously, their justification for believing what China says is, and I paraphrase: "what reason do we have for not believing them?"

One of my first thoughts was how this is China's Chernobyl. Except this one affects the entire world and the Western media aren't holding the culprits to account

If a single English-language media outlet failed to use the phrase “Chernobyl moment” to describe China at the February peak of its Covid-19 epidemic, I haven’t found it. For one brief hopeful moment the entirety of the Western punditeska was confident that China’s ascendancy had come to a sorry and sudden end. Now that China has reported no new domestic cases for three consecutive days, it appears that Western Schadenfreude at China’s misery was a form of denial, the first of the late Elizabeth Kübler-Ross’s five stages of grief.

If China reports "no new domestic cases for three days", how many new domestic cases do you suppose they are seeing?

This is the same country that sent bloodmobiles around the countryside, dumped the untested blood into the same respository, and spread HIV far and wide:

I read a lot. I've never read “Chernobyl moment” to describe China until just now.

Propaganda.

China creates and exports the Wuhan China virus to everyone they can, without telling anyone for two months, kills the doctor who blew the whistle, threatens the US by withholding medications from supply chains, lies about it's numbers and then blames the US.

This was all a plan from the Chinese to spread this virus in secret, not accept fault and then step in as everyone's salvation. It's really stupid that asiatimes thinks that's a good and smart way to enter into ascendancy. Ends justifies the means thinking.

Global pandemic is all part of the new standard in Chinese ascendancy, no thanks!

Well, this is disappointing. David Goldman, i.e. Spengler, is usually very insightful and is generally a brilliant analyst. He has also followed China for years, and I am stunned that he has penned this ridiculous article. To trust that the Chinese actually have a "remarkable achievement" in "containing" and bringing to a halt, this insidious creation of theirs, stretches credulity. That they will come out stronger is only possible if there is no accountability laid at their feet. GEOTUS, I doubt, will allow that to happen! MAGA - KAG!
