Only 1.0M drop since the outbreak started. Doesn't mean they all died, but curious that the only decline on record is from the start of the outbreak period in China.
Not saying they all died, but pretty amazing that the only drops in subscriber base on record are from Oct 2019 thru Feb 2020... (and the data goes back to 2016)
Yeah - a valid comparison would be to look at these numbers from about March 2019. I don't know that Unicom has "just-in-time" numbers withing a quarter - that this drop in subscriber rates might be completely normal until the whole quarter is reported.
This is also not a publicly traded company, so these numbers would only be released with the permission of the company, so I am skeptical about the source data off the get-go.
There have been positive net additions EVERY month since 2016 and then in Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan large declines (even taking into account people switching to fixed broadband due to being locked down.)
Even taking into account the number of people who switched from Mobile to Fixed broadband due to the lock down; there is no corresponding offset from the fixed broadband subscriber number.
The true number of Chinese WuFlu infected may be in the 500,000 to 900,000 range. Figure the 10% death rate being seen elsewhere and that is 50K to 90K dead from the WuFlu in China alone.
In Jan 2020 alone - decline of 1,186 K mobile subscribers offset by 618 K new fixed broadband is still a 568 K decline which has never occurred before.
Add in Nov, Dec 2019 and you get a drop of 1.075 million subscribers from broadband services.
It shows them cracking down on communications. As a communist regime is apt to do.
This is foolish speculation that's been floating around for a few days.
8 Million in a country of 1.4 Billion dropped their cell phone service so they must have all died of WuFlu. Sorry but there is no evidence.

I don’t get the correlation. Please explain.
