It’s likely as simple as censorship and bad planning as well as people to afraid (and for good reason) of critiquing decision makers. They did not want an economic impact, or global attention so they hide the information.
That’s easy, they own much of our debt - we simply don’t pay it. Something will come from this. Trump is keeping the ‘Chinese’ virus term for a reason - this was a result of communist censorship - people are not at fault - but the government is and the US should hold them accountable backed by the rest of the world.
At the time Trump was pushing that term, there was a huge Chinese PR offensive blaming our soldiers and they were firing lasers at our ships. They were threatening to EMP the ships, rendering them inoperable. They were also threatening to cut off medicine shipments. (It seems like they might have withheld some things which is why Trump is scrambling to get them supplied from here. This would be something the govt doesn't want to talk about.)
Well, it's gonna hurt the US if the Chinese dont agree to it. The US has never failed to meet a loan bond before, which is why all nations are happy to loan them whatever they want because they know they will get it paid back.
I think there is a good exception here. Yes, it will need to play-out politically. Also, they’re going to want a cut and the Chinese are out of luck if the UN backs the decision.
Aside from the fact this virus has not even killed a fraction of the yearly deaths from flu, let alone Hitler's ww2 genocide, it just seems like propaganda...but I'm not positive the angle.
If I had to guess, it would be a "China is the new world leader and helps the sad dying America" angle. Because the CCP has been going hard to get seen donating masks, and drugs to Japan, Taiwan, the US, and other countries, so they can get headline news as being a helpful world leader. But most of the donations are not even being accepted because they aren't needed. They just want their name in headlines.
Also countries with manufacturing in China have had their stock, bound for their respective countries, pulled back and confiscated by the CCP. Or what stock these countries did have, were being bought by the Chinese government in such high levels, such as facemasks in Taiwan, that the Taiwanese government had to start printing the Taiwan flag on them to stop the CCP government from buying them.
Why would the CCP government want to "donate" all this stuff, after they literally stole or hoard purchased the very same goods from the countries they are "donating" to?
The news outlets are also tripping over themselves to say China is a world leader at solving he disease crisis. So I think the CCP government is hoping they can use their propaganda around the world to trick people into thinking America is no longer the world power.
And that might work in their country, but it won't work worldwide, it work on the countries that matter. It won't work on the US, Japan or the UK. It won't work on the former Eastern Soviet countries. It won't even work on Russia.

I don't blame the Chinese people just as I don't blame Americans for the Deep State. The people of China are suffering even more from the CCP than we are.
