I think this is the key problem. There is not enough reliable data so good decisions can't be made, which means a lot of bad decisions are being made.

The problem is, making no decisions might be worse. I don't envy the people making decisions right now.

Top scientist doesn't mean non politically biased. Nowadays when somebody mentions "top" I trust that source less.

ditto. I'm all for experts weighing in, but when someone is touted as being a top whatever, it makes me suspicious. That's probably a "me" issue and not a "them" issue, but it doesn't change how I react.

Plus, a top whatever could still be wrong.
