Most fatal cases of influenza involve pneumonia and often affects young children. Seasonal influenza kills around 40k each year in the USA. So think about all the lung damage people get from getting the flu and it turns into pneumonia.
Basically don't act like this lung damage thing is something out of the ordinary when we already have had many thousands of people get pneumonia each year from the flu and survive it.
I'm not saying that lung damage is exclusive to this virus. But its shouldn't be ignored just because people suffer lung damage from other sources. Your argument makes no sense.
Some of the people who catch this virus will incur permanent or long-term lung damage that they would not have otherwise. Are you saying that this is not true or that this does not matter?
My point is you never hear stats about lung damage from influenza + pneumonia so why should this get that statistic? Seems like to add more fear and no context.
and they tell two friends and they tell two friends and they tell two friends, and before we know it the entire tv is filled with little boxes of people. The streets will run red with the blood of the Wuhans victims, at least the 7 remaining survivors can clean it up with all the toilet paper.
As they test more there will be more + results.
Testing has ramped up due to availability of kits and throughput of the labs. We expect the numbers to rise for this reason alone.
Keep going like that and the quantity of coronavirus will be greater than the mass of the known universe!!!!
Extrapolating numbers like this is useless. Stop trying to spread fear.
By April 10 I’ll have at least 3 Coronaviruses!
At the same time I think you'll also see the fatality rate drastically reduce.
The only number that matters is the % of deaths. We still well below 1%.
Some will experience permanent or long-term lung damage as well. I haven't seen statistics on this, but I would consider them among the casualties.

Enough with the fear mongering bullshit
I assume this is cumulative. So, by April 20, 3.4% of the South Carolina population will have contracted the virus.
With 80% experiencing only mild symptoms, 34,000 will have moderate to severe symptoms - may need hospitalization.
Just doing the math - not meant to be a commentary. Yes, the outbreak should be taken seriously.
