So not necessarily, foreign investment isn't the worst thing assuming you are on good terms with a nation and that nation respects your citizens property within their borders as well. The problem is we're talking about China which absolutely does not respect property, so fuck them, confiscate it all.
It directly fucks over American citizens by forcing them to compete for land and housing with foreign nationals, driving up the cost of both and making owning land and a house nigh unattainable for many Americans.
Same thing with legal immigrants (70-90% of whom vote left for life btw) coming here to take Amerian jobs... even if they all voted conservative in majority numbers (and the opposite is true by a huge amt) they're still driving down the wages of American citizens, which as we can plainly see has disastrous effects on our country.
