This looks very good. Is that supposed to be about Walter Duranty? His name was mentioned but the main character doesn't seem to be him.
If you don't know who he is, Duranty defined fake news in the 1930s writing for the New York Times (a stretch...I know, I know). Duranty was a complete bastard and specifically wrote there was NO famine going on in Ukraine.
UPDATE: Read the IMBD - the trailer is a bit confusing. Duranty is in fact called out as a scumbag.
From one of the reviews:
"Holland focuses only partly on the famine and more on the role of stalinist propaganda and the gullability of western media and politics, that swept this catastrophe under the rug for decades. It´s a thrilling movie that doesn´t have the budget to show millions of dead and instead focuses on intimate an gruesome details. The luxury of the elites (western & russian) in Moscow are in stark contrast to the suffering of the peasants. "Mr Jones" brings us to the beginning of worldwide propaganda and fake news strategies"
Ok...did a quick look around and the "Mr Jones" from the title is Gareth Jones, a Welsh journalist who publishes a bit of truth about the starvation until he is overshadowed by Duranty.
A good bit of the whole cover-up is part of Tzouliadis' (spelling??) book, The Forsaken. Great book on americans that travelled to the new workers' paradise only to be tossed into a gulag or be murdered. The amerian embassy in Moscow did little to help the americans and little to help the starving Ukranians. Been a while since I read this -- may have to read it again before the film.
Thanks! Yes, the film is titled "Mr. Jones" but it seems like they called the main character Duranty in the trailer. That review sounds promising. The Holodomor was a nightmare and deliberate. I hope the film will not hold back any punches on this.
Came here to say this - looks like they are trying to make him into a hero...
Rewritten history.
"Duranty was a correspondent in Moscow while the famine raged and he knew it was happening. He not only turned a blind eye, but vilified the few Western journalists who did report on it, branding their dispatches as anti-Soviet lies.
Born in Britain in 1884 into a well-to-do family, he studied languages at Cambridge. In the Twenties he lived in Paris, where he developed an opium habit and took part in drunken orgies with both men and women."

I recently watched the movie. That whole scene gives credence to the idea that "Epstein parties" have been around a lot longer than we would like to imagine.

Sounds like a must see!
