Facts:

-The 737 was designed in the 1960's w/ the objective to service metro airports. It was designed to sit low to the ground for ease of baggage loading.

-757 is a favorite of pilots due to its high performance at getting airborne. Also has fuel capacity to service long haul routes and has absolute best flight characteristics.

-Boeing drops the 757.

-In a rushed reaction to the A321neo Boeing decides to evolve the 737 again. To achieve efficiency an engine swap was necessary. Go back to original design and realize new efficient high bypass engines will not fit under wings. No prob. Just extend the engine mounts. Will change the cg and will be difficult to fly. No prob. Add a computer but make it transparent. No new training necessary.

BOEING, build a clean sheet MMA now!

(Or resurrect the 757 and re engine it! Also add the composite wing of 787!)

While that is all true, I'm saddened by the loss of 57.

Incredible Jet.

They owned the goose that laid the golden eggs and made gumbo out of it.

The 787 was the first public showing of the issues within Boeing, they farmed out almost every part of the design process, then stuck it all together without the different suppliers having even been aware who each other were, let alone talk to each other.

Then they built the plant in South Carolina, and built quality was so bad, most airlines refused aircraft assembled there.

some 10 years later, they have got a lot worse, not better, take the 737NG issue, or the KC-46 fiasco
