Does anybody really watch him? The only place I ever see his name is here; where people keep hoping he's some kind of indication of what independents think.

Also, someone so insecure about their appearance that they wear a beanie indoors in the summer is a little suspect to me to begin with.

Also he wears a beanie because its his trademark, he has been doing that for years. Maybe you should try to be a little less judgmental.
I’ve been a follower of his for a long time, since Ferguson. He was doing in-the-crowd live-streaming while the media was busy spinning whatever yarns they wanted to. He was broadcasting all the racial attacks against white people while the media was screeching about police brutality.
And he’s traveled more and more rightward since then. I think that was his awakening that things on the left weren’t quite as they seemed. He has also covered all the violence against Trump supporters, and 90% of his content is defending the President from the fake news media.
And yeah, his beanie is a gimmick. But he’s bald too and a bit self-conscious about it, so I guess it’s better than a bad combover.
I watch him because it's good to get impartial ideas from a veraity of different sources. Do i agree with everything he says? Nope. Do i agree with some of his policies? Nope. But i can take a listen to what he says and make my own independent thought about it. You know... Like a rational adult.
I think he’s popular with young people. Some people who I went to college with, that I would have never suspected, have been watching his stuff and posting it on their Story.
