I work for a large US airline. HR hired a male pilot that has a huge gut, bigger biceps than me and I lift, but grew out his hair and puts on ( badly ) face makeup. He looks nothing like a female- and I have a close friend that is a post op trans and you cant tell she was a guy years ago. This is surely a mental illness but they put him in the cockpit of a jet. It's so sad. In 20 years from now, there are going to be a lot of very broken people trying to put their lives back together after being manipulated and cajoled into trying to become something they just can't be.
