I stupidly took out 50k in student loans, worse decision of my life, but it was my fault and therefore I had to pay them back. Instead of whining like a little bitch I started doing side gigs and every dollar I had went to pay them off. It took me 3 years. It took a toll on my health, family but it was worth it because I don't have to worry about paying that shit anymore.

Then the do nothing democrats for absolutely no reason want to throw in 10k to pay peoples student loan? For what reason? Trump already deferred student loan interest and payments why is it necessary to pay them down?

Am I going to get my 10k student loan reimbursement?

Apparently it was even more stupid to pay them off instead of just waiting for the government to absolve you.

No hard work goes unpunished.

My buddy's father, a CPA, complained about the 2008 mortgage handout to people lying on mortgage application and banks profiting from the known lies, when he was guiding his clients to be fiscally responsible.

"I had decided to drop out and start working instead of accruing more debt."

That was your mistake! Instead of enslaving yourself further, you dug your way out!

We paid over 200000 pushing 3 kids thru college, where my EBT card bees at? I didn't have that money, we sweated and put in overtime and did without things we wanted, didn't want the kids loaded out with debt so we paid. WE took the debt for our kids, will I get some brand new fresh off the printing press paper?

Why no, no I won't. And it's ok, because WE never expected others to pay our debts.

They never think about that part. Pissing off the people who already put in the work. The blood, sweat and tears to get ahead. They only think of the ones who are "Suffering" and who's votes they can get with promises of alleviating that suffering. They also make sure that there's assloads of people suffering form this, that and the other thing that they're invariably the cause of in the first place. This is what they call their "Voter Base".

When I went to business school, I shoveled every extra dollar from my salary to the university to pay it off as I went. Extended the program by a year (NYU part time) so that I wouldn't need a loan.

Paid over $100,000 over the course of that 4 years to NYU. Never took on a dime in debt.

So, according to pelosi, I should have just taken out a 10K loan for part of that last semester and it would be absolved? Why not give me a $10K refund? Why not give everyone who went to college and scraped together the cash to pay a refund?

Because irresponsibility is rewarded.

Pelosi is a prune faced old hag

5
BitcoinTrump 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yeah this is bullshit. I paid off my loans by the age of 30, and I could use that $10k now...where's it at?

You are a CHUMP, like all of us who did the right thing.

Oh this isn't even about helping people in debt, it's all about preventing students from dropping out of university. They need the indoctrination centers to stay open, and they can't do that if people start dropping out of useless degree programs in a rare moment of fiscally responsible clarity.

No refunds! Bernie style

Seruna_Kanus 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's stupid. It punishes people that did things right and rewards those that do nothing and make the burden worse. Sure, this could cut my own debt burden by a third, but I already have a program where I at least pay interest until I get better wages.

Cop-Morty 3 points ago +3 / -0

I worked 90+ and 100+ hour weeks for 2 years to pay off my loans As soon as possible.

if I have to pay other people's student loans, I'm gonna be fucking PISSED.

3
Armatron 3 points ago +3 / -0

No. This is what is going to happen. You, like me, were responsible and paid off our student debt. Now we are getting offered the privilege to pay off the student debt of others. This is one of the reasons I'm not a Democrat anymore. You and me are not seen as the victims of what is basically robbery if this goes through. We are the privileged elite who work long hours, don't take vacations we can't afford, and live within our means. Now go fuck yourself you selfish prick.

2
123breadman 2 points ago +2 / -0

"Offered the privilege", you mean like at gunpoint?

2
Armatron 2 points ago +2 / -0

That's one way to look at it.

Yeah, deferral is enough. If someone needs a deferral that seems okay, but to just pay of 10 k of their loans seems too much.

We worked and saved money to pay for college. We made sacrifices and lived below our means. People that took out a loan should not be rewarded with a payout. Defer payment, that’s it.

F this idea that we might pay off loans by strangers

So I get to exchange a $1k check (of my own money..that II also don't need), for a $10k tax burden to pay off someone else's dumb decision.

Yeh, fuck that Nancy. Now just do us all a favor: stay drunk and on permanent vacay.

WinstonSmith1984 2 points ago +2 / -0

"Eat a bag of dicks, responsible citizen."

2
LibertyorDeath45 2 points ago +2 / -0

Nah, you get to pay their 10k now.

2
FL2PC72LE 2 points ago +2 / -0

Same here. I paid back $75K two years ago. Took me 14 years. I rode public transport for 5 of it, so I could make the highest payments I could. Now our tax money will go to those who chose not to put themselves to too much trouble.

2
six5_SMK 2 points ago +2 / -0

According to the left, you are privileged, if you weren't you wouldn't have qualified for the loan or needed it because you wouldn't be in college.

2
OneOfMany_MAGA 2 points ago +2 / -0

No, you’ll be busy working to pay off other people’s student loans.

2
SonoftheTerminator 2 points ago +2 / -0

Right after I get back my self funding. I made it a point not to take out loans but pay as I go, super hard but worth it.

No shite. What is my son going to do, working two jobs, staying in our house, fixing cars on the side - so that he can graduate debt free? Does he get a grant? Indeed, no good deed goes unpunished.

I never even took out a loan, but since my tax dollars are gonna pay for everyone else’s student loan, do I also get $10,000?
