I let both my Senators know where I stand last week via online message. I'm not sure how that stuff gets processed or not. I'm going to leave them alone otherwise because they are both on our side already.

Hopefully some of those that aren't will feel the pressure.

Mine are strong in favor. Thank God I'm in a red state.

We can't call them now. They are in session.

Honestly, I never wanted a bailout. I'm sick of socialism in this country.

We can fix our own problems. We don't need congress to give us permission to help each other.

I don't like it either but this will stabilize the markets so we can get to a baseline. The government can't halt the economy and not provide some relief.

Sure, Eminent Domain and all that.

The courts can sort that out, though. If the government ordered you to do something, and it cost you $5k, sue the government, get that $5k back plus expenses.

We shouldn't be throwing money around regardless.

I agree on principle, but we don't have time for it to work through the courts.

The depression was caused by a number of factors. The fact that the government wasn't throwing money around left and right wasn't one of them, because they were.

Economists who have studied this sort of thing have all but unanimously said that the true cause of the depressions was a combination of the Federal Reserve tightening the supply of money when they should've expanded it, and the government spending and regulating the economy.

So if we want to avoid another Great Depression, we'd better loosen up the money supply and not tax & spend.
