Not the OP but, this 'report' doesn't surprise me.
One of my pet peeves, is people talking water purification.
AKA using Bleach.
Now, Don't get me wrong, the cuppola drops in water & time, WILL kill the bugs we most worry about in water, but long term drinking of that water WILL damage even a healthy person's internal organs. Crazy for kids & elderly as everything...
I have seen discussions go from a cuppola drops, to hey I have hot tub chemicals that will work.
The fact is you may kill the germs but their corpses remain, and can cause an immune response from your body, aka get sick, shits etc... it won't last the month or so from guardia etc, but it will still be bad.
The best thing is distilling the water !
second best is boiling -corpses remain
you can even fill clear bottles and bake in the sun for 3 days-corpses remain.
Lifestraws work, as do most other filter systems, until they clog...
Bottom line, is it is VERY difficult to reproduce the water quality that our local communities do at the water district facilities, and have the trained staff following strict scientific standards to produce reliable potable water, they just pump down most everyone's pipes including toilets & showers...
IMHO, it's a certain sign of first world civilization, clean water...

Wait wait wait, are you saying that because radiation can kill people, it can't also treat cancer and save people's lives?
