Good in theory, but impractical. It would be like keeping your kid from going to the drive-in in the 60's or Mall in the 90's. Despite its downsides and detriments, social media is an important part of socialization for today's youth. The only way to get your kid off social media without developmentally stunting them, would be if EVERYONE got off social media. Which we ALL know is never going to happen.
You missed my entire point. Denying your child social media, for all its negatives, would do more harm than good as it would stunt their social development.
Edit: Every single one of you downvoting me are going to be terrible parents, and your children are going to hate you. You may think you're "helping" them, but you're really not.
Edit2: I'd also like to challenge the credibility of "studies" that determined social media is detrimental as such studies were most likely performed by soft minded leftists. However as I'm coming to learn most people here are as equally soft minded, and I'm no longer surprised the country is turning to shit. So I guess it really doesn't matter.
No it wouldn't. It would only stunt their social MEDIA development not their social development. Developing worthy and valuable social skills can only come from being physically together in person with people (not computers) and actually doing things together. Not by posting pictures and words on the Internet.
There is plenty of social development to be had in the real world. We thrived and interacted with one another just fine before the advent of social media. There’s no RDA standards that must be followed to avoid stunting of growth, in fact it’s the opposite. Social media creates a false self that children wrongly believe they must live up to. Check out this podcast on that subject.
That's ridiculous. Social development was always the thing touted as homeschoolers failing--guess what, homeschooled children are far ahead more socially developed because they have the skills to interact properly with any age. Homeschoolers... FTW.
And social media is unnecessary.
Yup. This is how you create leftists. In their eyes its just a fun app to make videos with your friends. Better to inform them about why they shouldnt use the app, and monitor what they do there, and if they do stupid shit thats out the line, then you deny them to use it. If you're 'punishing' them when they havent done anything wrong, they start resenting
Do you know how you make your kids into leftists? By denying them to use apps and shit that in their eyes are not dangerous. Inform them instead, and try to monitor what they do/watch/post on the app instead, and try to inform them why they shouldnt use it. Because in their eyes its just a fun app that you make videos with your friends
I think we ought to think about how we meme Tik Tok into being uncool. I really don’t know much about the app itself. Maybe we could get these kids to do a lot of Winnie the Pooh shit and trigger Xi into kicking them all off?
Not if you talk to them about the apps and make rules. Inform them. Otherwise you're most likely gonna regret it later. What happened when your parents denied you to do things? You respect it or did you do worse shit? Because I know what I did
I've been cleaning my guns and going through prep lists to almost the point of obsession. I've never been more prepared than I am right now due to all the free time.
That feeling when every last coworker that ever shit on you for owning guns has called and asked to borrow a gun and some ammo. I wish I had two more hands so I could flip y'all 4 middle fingers at the same time.
PS, raise your kids in the church guys. It solves all the problems you are describing if you do your part. My daughter is away at college. We have spent most of the week playing board games over Skype with her boyfriend (who I actually like).
Get your kids off TikTok folks! The company that makes it has strong ties to the CCP!
Get your kids off all social media if possible.
No phones till 18. Save your kids childhoods.

Yeah, but today’s dads can block urls on their firewalls at home.

It could even help their social development, by forcing them to interact with people in real life!

Pick one.
Yup, but not every parent shares that same sentiment, so you're kid is just gonna be out of the loop and end up social outcast.
No one wants to hangout with the weird kid who's helicopter parents wont even let him use normal technology

I formulated my own Maxim (I'll be honest it probably already is some kind of Chinese Proverb or some shit based on how wise it sounds)
Don't tell them not to use it, tell them how to use it.
"It" in this case being phones and "them" being your kids.
This phrase seems to be of common logic and I think would greatly improve your arguments on this matter.
Can't compare it to those things. The influence is much more concentrated and last for 24/7 drive in last 2 hours.
So do Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, and Google.

Inform them and don't let them use it. Save em a world of hurt.

See George’s post: https://thedonald.win/p/FMEtEGZw/x/c/GvdFC2kM
He has the right approach.
Because who hasn’t checked out their guns lately? ;)
I've been cleaning my guns and going through prep lists to almost the point of obsession. I've never been more prepared than I am right now due to all the free time.
Armed to the teeth they say. 60 days of food for the household is not looking bad right now either although 120 days would be better.
Funny but it’s a lot more likely looters will target closed businesses and retail than houses full of people.
If the motive is material goods only.
But what if the motive is to harm?
I've seen a huge increase in private security presence all over my area.
Really? Do you live with a bunch of rich people? What have you seen
It's sad when society has fallen to such an extent that you're forced to do this because you know what the outcome will be.
Looting my house means youll be on liveleak the following morning
On liveleak live leaking....
It's not a leak. It's a fluid change forced by acute lead poisoning.
Who the hell lets their kids use Tik Tok. First kid's phone I find with that crap on it is used as a zeroing target.
What is this madness? They won't show up for assaults now? The police department there should be shut down and the national guard should take over.
Basically this
I am friggin dying! Lol
Well everyone I see out here in Vegas seems to be open carrying. Of course I am carrying for work but even off duty I carry.
Looters are among the lowest of the low.
I wish someone would fuck around and find out. (Jk I hope I never have to kill someone, let alone over toilet paper, ^but ^^i ^^^will )

lmao where can I vote for this common sufferer-or?
