Again, this is early days for the pandemic.

Using the number 500 is extremely disingenuous.

I completely agree with you.

And yes, I get the feeling that people just want it to be worse, it's like they feel better when feeling doom and pity.

What your saying is possible.

The most important takeaway is that we need widespread testing NOW.

It almost sounds like you want it to be worse.

???!

Italy's numbers are inflated because they responded to the pandemic by virtue signalling. That's why New York is fucked up too. It's not like they're representative of what's going to happen because we all caught it at the same time. The numbers we're seeing a reflection of the ability of each nation's healthcare system to handle the disease (it's like Charlie is probing the wire.) We're doing better than most, including South Korea. China got a head start on everyone else, so if their current reporting is at all accurate (and I'm not convinced it is) then we should be hitting the peak of the curve very soon.

Regardless you shouldn't lie about the 500/month figure just because it suits your side of the argument.

We're only 23 days into the month and very few people have even been exposed to the virus at this point.

It's March 23rd.

There have been 23 days so far in March.

I was criticizing OP on his 500 a month figure. The month isn't even over yet.

It's not disingenuous. Italy has a history of excess mortality when it comes to influenza, has an elderly population with 2+ comorbidities, and has been buffing up their corona death numbers to hide their embarrassing influenza numbers.

International Journal of Infectious Diseases agrees:

I'm also skeptical about this opposite side of the argument.

Sure, the CCP lies about everything. But 10X?

I dunno.

Let's just make the best decisions we can with the info available now.
