Chloroquine is indeed FDA approved for other indications. There is basic and clinical data to show it's a promising drug for COVID19 and that's why we have trials looking further into it's efficacy. The data we have is not enough for the FDA to approve it but that doesn't mean it's not promising and it certainly doesn't warrant a round the clock hysteria in the media trying to show how drugs that have been used safely for decades are suddenly poisonous death traps that Trump prescribed.
