Unbelievable. Friendly banter and smiles while calmly discussing 1000 DEAD KIDS.

Bonus: Stock market ticking upward.

This clip proves that the Wuhan virus crisis was 100% manufactured by the mainstream media. Disgusting.

And normies wonder why this country is divided.

99% percent of the time this is a reliable method: the opposite of what the normies believe is happening, is what's really happening.

Hence, corona is 99% manufactured overblown fear.

Trump is building 4 hospitals in NYC right now as we speak. I remember last flu season they built 6, right? So is he manufacturing fear as well?

HockeyMom4Trump 48 points ago +48 / -0

Unbelievable. My children were smaller at this time and I was a busy mom not watching the news or TV. Social media was not around as much, I heard very little about this and really only remember the preschool teacher taking precautions by having all the students wash their hands before entering her classroom,

No quarantines. No constant bombardment of a death counter. No business closures.

What the heck is going on right now???

I seriously doubt it is even going to be close to that at the end. There are plenty of countries who have had it for a long time and not even over 10k deaths.

I didn't know anything about H1N1 until I got really sick and went to the see the doctor. They tested me for it and told me I had it. If I had to choose between being infected with H1N1 again or the WuFlu, I'd take the WuFlu every time.

5
HockeyMom4Trump 5 points ago +5 / -0

And yet we did not close schools or stop all business for H1N1? So weird how this is going on. People in Nebraska with around 65 cases are being destroyed in the stock market and hurt by this virus in a financial way that is probably not necessary. Most of the cases are in NYC and yet our entire country is in a frenzy.

Cyer6 2 points ago +2 / -0

I caught Hand, Foot and Mouth a couple of summers ago. The worst bug I've ever had and it took me months to get through it because it kills outer layers of skin and causes your nails to fall out. I'd take CV over that any day of the week including Sundays.

6
aparition42 6 points ago +6 / -0

I think the key is in your statement, "social media was not around as much". The biggest difference between now and then is how easily panic mongering nonsense can be elevated in the public consciousness. Random nobodies can spout BS and it'll be retweeted hundreds of thousands of times by equally clueless people until it feels a lot more important than it really is.

It's called the "availability heuristic". We tend to assume something we see or hear about more often is more important than things we don't see or hear about. So by controlling your media (mainstream and social) inputs, a relatively small number of sensationalists can easily convince you that a virus is more deadly than say, slipping and falling despite the fact that slip and fall accidents kill many times more people.

3
HockeyMom4Trump 3 points ago +3 / -0

Interesting. I didn't even know it had a name. This is probably why my mother would watch Nancy Grace and think there were millions of kidnappings now compared to 1950, but back then we did not hear so much about these things and now it is constantly in our news feed.

Truthfully, it is so toxic and anxiety inducing I often just turn everything off and go play outside with my dog. I can't take the panic and death counters.

4
aparition42 4 points ago +4 / -0

I honestly believe it has a great deal to do with the number of "anxiety disorders" being talked about these days.

There have ALWAYS been myriad disasters going on around the world, natural and man made. The only thing truly new is the fact that we hear about all of them constantly.

I totally agree that ocassionally unplugging is good for our mental health.

Muh exponential growth with unicorn numbers!

2
Rockmanneo 2 points ago +2 / -0

Only WuFlu gots the magical exponential growth!

9
nrjk 9 points ago +9 / -0

Literally had a reddit fag tell me H1N1 didn't have exponential growth. Um, yeah it did. Then someone else said the incubation period was only 36 hours. Still no lockdown or quarantine. I can see the difference to a degree, but to assume there no manufacturing of fear is retarded.

We have a known, finite number of deaths and a minimum number of known cases. That already skews the mortality rate to appear much higher.

DrCowboyPresident -26 points ago +7 / -33

Well, you can start by comparing what H1N1 did to Italy vs what this has done.

The information is easily available. I don't recall the military hauling off bodies then.

Now go ahead and downvote me for facts.

Edit: Thanks for not disappointing me. When did this place become full of fact downvoting faggots who don't even bother to respond? It's pathetic, honestly. Learn how to do math you fucking retards.

Exactly. Fck Italy and their BS slanted numbers. They couldn't get their sht in order fast enough and are letting their old folks die. You're a total moron (not you specifically, Grumpy_bastard) if you think that what happened in Italy is going to happen here. You're talking about comparing apples to oranges then whining because people are downvoting you. Man, take that sh*t back to r/pol, you soy guzzling Bernie Bro.

1
HilLiedTroopsDied 1 point ago +2 / -1

we can't compare yearly deaths until we've had SARS_CoV-2 for at least a year and to take into account factors that decrease it's spread, we do crap for flu, and you see what we're doing for SARS-CoV-2.

like basic math?

Coincidence?

You're my first downvote! Congrats!

Media headline tomorrow: US now has more deaths than Italy!! REEEE!!!!!

Considering there are seven times more people living in the US, REEEEE!!!!

You earned your downvote.

8
IntrepidBurger 8 points ago +8 / -0

Italy collapsed precisely because of the panic. Lots of non-essential people went to hospitals thereby clogging them up. Under normal circumstances it would have been exactly like H1N1.

7
Cheesygorditacrunch 7 points ago +7 / -0

So by your logic the seasonal flu is something much worse and we should have the same response if not greater. Can’t wait for next year’s shut down! Also, since when do we give a flying fuck about Italy? They are a very different country in every sense.

1 in 6 Americans infected with H1N1.

6,000 dead in a single month, including children.

Casual. Unconcerned. No big deal.

33,404 Americans infected with WuFlu.

400 deaths total, all elderly and/or with other health complications.

HOSPITALS ARE OVERWHELMED! SHUT IT ALL DOWN! LOCK YOURSELVES IN YOUR HOMES AND WAIT TO DIE! ORANGE MAN HAS KILLED US ALL!!!1

4
sickofaltspin 4 points ago +4 / -0

Current numbers to compare:

  • 50M infected by H1N1
  • 6K Dead in a single month

Fast forward to 2020 lockdown:

  • Total cases: 44,183
  • Total deaths: 544

Weird.

2
Cyer6 2 points ago +2 / -0

And... 274,304 hospitalizations with H1N1. Was there a big panic being reported with the medical community then like we have now?

10
tonightm97 10 points ago +10 / -0

Five people in my home town had it. Two people that lived just down my road. No lockdown. A tiny bit of panic buying not even worth talking about.

Now we have to stay inside? Fear the police when we do have to go outside?

The death toll is mostly to do with failing health systems than the actual virus. If they had the ability to care for people with 100% coverage. The death toll would be so small.

Countries getting overwhelmed by refugees and government cutting back health care in EU countires killed people. Not so much the actual virus.

Remember when more than 7500 Americans died every day for several years and no one noticed because people die?

Honestly, If Obama had tried any of this shit using the H1N1 strain of the flu as an excuse most people here would have been howling "tyranny!" from the start.

2
catbertz 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep, final estimate was 11,690 people, including 1,180 children

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_flu_pandemic_in_the_United_States

On February 12, 2010, the CDC released updated estimate figures for swine flu, reporting that, in total, 57 million Americans had been sickened, 257,000 had been hospitalised and 11,690 people had died (including 1,180 children) due to swine flu from April through to mid-January.[131]

5
CarlosDangerrr [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

I personally limit my reliance on Wikipedia for my information (even though they were close this time). The wikipedia data you cited, for some unknown reason, only includes data until January 2010. While the CDC data goes from April 2009 to April 2010.

The CDC website claims there were 12,469 deaths (with a possible range from 8868 to 18,306). 0 -17 year olds accounted for 1282 deaths.

https://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/estimates_2009_h1n1.htm

https://academic.oup.com/cid/article/52/suppl_1/S75/499147

4
catbertz 4 points ago +4 / -0

Ahh nice catch! I generally don't trust wiki either, but it was convenient...and failed that test again. The attempt by them to whittle down the numbers for H1N1 is sick.

3
CarlosDangerrr [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

Honestly I make that mistake also. I just happen to be doing research and had that CDC page open in my browser right now.

3
sickofaltspin 3 points ago +3 / -0

257,000 hospitalized - how the fuck did our hospitals handle it, it took less than 20K for them to shutdown the entire economy... maybe, just maybe they are overreacting?

1
catbertz 1 point ago +1 / -0

What's funny is the hospitalizations and death numbers are apparently higher at the CDC site. Someone pointed out that wiki doesn't show number for the full season, so their number is lower. Lol.

Now consider that the regular flu had even higher numbers for death and hospitalization then h1n1.

This is textbook overreaction, but the thing that stumps me is...why would the whole world overreact, when the numbers are clear?

1
deleted 1 point ago +3 / -2
4
HumbleMemeFarmer 4 points ago +4 / -0

And the real metric continues to be "excess deaths".

Quite simply many of the folks around the world dying of the Wuhan Chinese Virus were so shaky they may have been taken by the regular flu.

3
dakin116 3 points ago +3 / -0

Do you mean cases? We're what a month in and still under 100k cases...deaths are at 500. That would be a crazy spike for 600k deaths bro

0
deleted 0 points ago +1 / -1
3
amopheldupsidedown 3 points ago +3 / -0

Still, my money is on "fewer deaths than swine flu" on this roulette wheel. We'll have better indication of the future at day 15

1
IconoclasticSkeptic 1 point ago +1 / -0

To be fair, they had a vaccine for it; people thought the death rate for coronavirus was 3.4%; and this virus from China overloads any health care system requiring rationing of health resources.

However, you are right that the media is fabricating hysteria is an attempt to undermine our President. They had 1k infants dying from swine flu and I barely remember the disease being mentioned.
