"Why" questions work pretty well. Pretty well. As long as you don't come across with a narrative. The goal is to get someone to think about why they believe what they believe, what are they basing it on. At some point their brains will short circuit because they aren't used to critical thinking, and react with personal attacks, but they will ponder things over when sitting quietly by themselves.
