A few years ago, my Dad who was 71 at the time, was diagnosed with babesiosis believed to be from a tick bite. He got really sick and weak. He was quickly prescribed a combination of Hydroxychloroquine and a Z-pak.
The doctor/pathologist who made the move to check him for babesiosis - probably saved his life as his health and breathing were quickly deteriorating as the symptoms progressed.
He improved quickly after taking the combination of these drugs. Which was a big relief after how severe his symptoms became.
The point being - I know someone who took this combination of drugs -with great success and no complications whatsoever.
Why didn't he just drink fish tank cleaner? Pretty much the same thing, right?

Thank you for your story. Hopefully they will allow folks to take the combination BEFORE their test results come back. The quicker you start the protocol, the better the results.
OMG. It’s great that your dad got better, but you are telling me that H + A is a drug combination that’s been used for years to treat certain types of infections (that affect breathing). The media makes it out to be some new thing that’s never been tried. Unbelievable.
We were a little taken aback when the treatment suggested was a typical malaria drug, but we trusted the doctor's diagnosis.
Babesiosis can be very difficult to detect as you need to be lucky to take a sample that actually shows the presence of it. But first, you need to be LOOKING for it to begin with. We were fortunate to have an excellent doctor that suspected it, took the sample and did identify it.
You guys were so lucky!
That's great. But...that isn't really relevant to how well it will work, which I hope it does, against the coronavirus.
It didn't do any harm. Official trails begin today.
Interesting story and I am glad he recovered. We need to get these drugs distributed widely, then get back to work. Require people to wear masks in public, keep seniors home, and get back to work. We cannot continue to sacrifice our entire country on the altar of utterly insane risk aversion. At this point the cure is worse than the disease.
