New Yorkers are out of their fucking minds with the privilege they feel just for living in or around the city. I have family down there and I urged them to consider leaving. We told them the window to come get them was closing (it is closed now btw) but we got "thank you but we know what is best and everyone is really working together, supply chains are working great and the only reason there are so many cases here is because we are so much better at testing than the rest of country" which might be true but then why are they trying to hoard all the ventilators? Also I'm sure they do know what is best and I definitely think this whole thing is way overblown, however being told in one breath that they can always hitch a ride out of the city with bartender friends or catch the train if shit hits the fan and in the next breath that everything is fine because they have apps that keep them informed about local crime is... astonishing.
